I haven't used my Wii for a couple months up until now. It was modded perfectly before but my hard drive is no longer recognized by USB Loader or NeoGamma. Or at least, just won't mount. I've tried both USB ports, tried using a different USB cable, and have tried sticking a second device into the unused USB port.
Hi, I have pretty much the same problem! I have an HDD hooked up to USB, it worked fine before, now it doesn't.
The HDD is purely WBFS formatted, it's an old 40gb laptop sized drive. Works fine when connected to any computer.

Bit of a twist to my situation:

The cat chewed up my original USB adapter (the IDE ribbon part), so I ordered another.
While waiting for it to arrive during the next few days, I put some games on an 8GB USB stick and used that for the meantime.
It worked fine. Still does. The Wii will read it anytime.

The new adapter came, I plugged it back in, it didn't work. To make sure my new adapter would work and I don't blame hardware,
I re softmodded the Wii, loaded USB loader GX, and it worked fine and showed all the games!! 1 or 2 Wii reboots later, it doesn't work again.

Ever since I used a USB stick for a drive, the Wii doesn't want to read any larger capacity or 'real' HDD's anymore.
I had a few spares sitting around the house, WBFS formatted them and stuck a couple games on each one. Nope.

It's as if it patched or 'healed' itself without me doing anything.

It is not connected to the internet, Wiiconnect24 is off, my SD card is 2GB and properly FAT/FAT32 formatted, and that's it. It's a 4.3U Wii.

    Here are the specs.

    Spoiler

The only thing I haven't done yet is restore from my NAND backup before I softmodded the Wii.
That'll probably be the next thing to try if my specs look ok. Thanks for taking a look, everybody.

I can build an ARC reactor but I can't fix a stubborn Wii

I need help! I recently bought a new Wii, 4.3E, and have it softmodded with HBC installed. Unfortunately, I can't get my Wii to read, or even detect, my USBs. I have tried for three days of googling to find out what the problem is, but I can't find anything. I'm a noob, but I have softmodded before, on a 3.2E. I've tried using four different USB loaders (NeoGamma, USB Loader GX, USB Loader CFG and Wiiflow) but nothing is working, my Wii simply cannot detect the USB. I have tried both USB ports, I've tried using both USBs at the same time, the USBs that I'm using worked on my earlier Wii (the 3.2E one).
(If it helps in any way, one of my USBs has a light on it, and it will only light up in USB port 1 but not in port 0)

This is my syscheck, please tell me if you can find out what my problem is.

Just tried updating cIOS to d2xV8.

Got the pack here.. Here is a pack of latest d2x cIOS as wads- d2x v8 Final.zip

    cIOS245[37]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS246[38]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS247[53]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS248[55]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS249[56]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS250[57]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS251[58]-d2x-v8-final.wad

When I use MMM to install Wads from SD Card all 7 fail.
Do I need to remove anything first?
    System Check..

Thanks Skellinator, but I'm not sure what you mean by 236?

There are two major problems with my wii. First, a lot of newer games are asking me to update. This happened after I removed the stubs on my wii. Next, a lot of games keep crashing when I play them off an external hard drive. I'm not sure if this is related to the first problem but if so let me know. I am running at 4.3u and I used letterbomb to hack the wii in the first place.
