    Talking Correct Baes ?

    Hi,

Could someone tell me if these bases are correct for Steve ? I have always ONLY updated IOS247(53),IOS248(56),IOS249(55!) . Am I OFF BASE (pun on words I guess). Always has worked will with me for Cfg usb Loader 70, Mighty Channels 11.1 and any large drive. I just never found a really good guide as to exactly which IOS slots/base combinations should be used for D2X, so I just follow Mauifrog's guides. I would love some input and possibly a link would be wonderful

IOS245[37] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS246[38] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug ES Identify NAND Access
IOS247[53] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS248[55] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS249[56] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS250[57] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS251[58] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0

Question for you Steve, which Usb Loader are you using ? Have you tried Cfg usb loader v70 with your above setup ? (just for testing if you don't personally use Cfg)

It doesn't really matter what base you have in what slot. What matters is what you have selected in your loader. The loaders are now moving to autoloading the best cIOS for the game you are playing. As of now, the most compatible cIOS is base 56, which steve has in slot 249. Mixed between 249 and 250 (base 57), those two should run almost everything.

    Hi cjizzle, (And Everyone)

I totally agree from a usb loader point of view, but there are a tonne of other Wii apps the depend heavily on specific base types and slots. Many of them have default slots as well (zero autodetecting of any kind). What would be really cool, is if "somewhere" someone made a central page with proper (not outdated) recommend cios versions, slots and bases. And along side had a listing of the most popular Wii apps and there recommended/needed and default cios versions, slots and bases.

This page (like a wiki) would need to be updatable from senior members, as folks add more tech information from the forum

That way, ANY newbee could just go to that central page. Read that SINGLE page, then easily run the most popular/current cios install program (D2X), with proper cios version, slots and bases and 99% of ALL Wii apps would run perfectly. This is because a number of us not only use USB Loaders (which is where you start), but also a tonne of other apps, like emulators, media player, what have you. And those apps all have there needs. I find all the Wii mod manuals get you started well on modding your Wii, but don't include more recent developments.... that are really important, like D2X cios updates. Instead, the modder NEEDS to spend a tonne of time on different forum pages (not just Wiihacks) to custom develop his own cios formula for his Wii, take the chances of screwing things up, get a little lost, spend "more" time then needed, etc. I personally think the best place to start this would be the D2X cios update page of Wiihacks.com . There is kind of beginning of this in the IOS Info spoiler of the D2X Installation Guide on Wiihacks, but it's not in any way comprehensive. A simple:

D2Xv6 slot 248, base 56 Default slot for CFG Usb Loader v70, default Wiiflow v??? slot, default USB Loader GX v?? slot, etc...
D2Xv6 slot 249, base ?? etc.... default slot for Mighty Channels 11.1,

Then, a noob can simple follow that manual, do the D2X updates, install the majority of the Wii applications and 90% of all apps will work out of the box, without the need to customize cios slot numbers, cios versions and bases. As well, the modder doesn't need to spend, really a large amount of time learning about all the Wii apps and there customized needs. Learning is fine, but time is precious. All the general cios info is there on that single page. And that page can be continually updated. Anyways, I see a need and I think something like that would be cool and help the community. And really, it's not that hard, it would just be a collaboration of senior Wii modders to build and the payback would be huge. I find the acklies heal of Wii modding is cios versions, slots and bases.
