USB Loader GX and Jap games -- Bricking?

    Hey everyone,

I read somewhere that playing Japanese games on your softmodded Wii can "banner brick" the system. Can this happen if I'm playing a Japanese game on USB Loader GX?

I've been playing my backup of The Last Story on USB Loader GX 2.2 and I haven't had any problems at all (didn't have to change settings or anything to get it to work), but I'm sort of paranoid that this game may brick my Wii.

The bricking issues are related to accepting updates from out of region games. If you do that then you will get an out of region system menu installed and have a brick. Priiloader is your best line of defense for that. If you do not have it, get it! The usb loader should never ask you to update anyhow, but priiloader is still a must IMO.

Okay, thanks. So on the off chance that a PAL or Japanese game asks me to update, I should just hit cancel and install Priiloader? Or will some games update the Wii automatically without my knowledge?

none of them will update without telling you, but you cant be there all the time. Someon else may try to do it and you will be very upset trying to fix that brick. Install priiloader now and set it to block online and disc updates.

USB loaders all block updates to begin with so you should be fine. As mentioned, you should have priiloader installed as a fail safe since other types of bricks are possible though.
