    249? does it matter?

    Hi guys,

I've bricked a couple of wii's now cos I was wanting some shitty wii theme installed. You'd think I would have learned after the first attempt, but I didn't so there you go. Anyway, to cut a long story short I managed to bag myself a faulty wii off ebay that had a dodgy drive. I thought, this is perfect for homebrew. I nearly bricked a 3rd trying to install cios 249, but when I tried 222 it worked and I'm able to play games. So my question is, does it matter? Are there any differences or are there any games I can't play through cios 222? The only thing I've seen is that I can't load neogamma, which I don't really need anyway.

You don't seem to have a clue about what you're doing and how it works, at all.

You should try reading a few tutorials.

It's not normal to brick installing cIOS249 as it doesn't interfere with any important System files.

Not a big user of cIOS222 but if you can run Loaders, WAD Manager, ATD, DOP-IOS and a few of the other cIOS dependent apps then you should be fine.

Any reason why you had trouble installing cIOS? Did you remove the stub?
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

I know what I'm doing, I just don't know what NOT to do. I've been modding for years with many other consoles, but I've never used a console before that could be bricked so easily. There's always normally at least a factory reset of some kind. I've learnt my lesson though and i've got a fully working softmodded system, so I ain't too bothered. I just wanted to know if it made any difference which cios I used to load the games.

It was reading a tutorial that nearly got me a 3rd wii. In tutorial it gave me a load of crap about what to do in dop-ios mod, anyway that wiped the ios where my system menu was loaded. I did have preloader installed thank god.

It's all very well following tutorials, but they never tell you what to do if things don't work. Again, the tutorial said to remove dead stubs and I'm guessing 249 was one of them.
