Backup disc plays but video makes it unplayable

Hi guys, this is my first post and I hope it's an original issue. I am new to wii softmodding but with the help of your forums I have found quick answers to all my questions until now. I can't seem to find information about this anywhere. I made a backup DVD-r copy of Mario kart wii. When I launch it in backup channel it loads and plays video and sound but the top of the screen is slightly bowed toward the center and it "scrolls"(?) rapidly. Does anyone know a possible reason for this, or even just the proper terminology for this video phenomena?

Is the game the same region as your wii? Try forcing the video settings in your loader to your region

You are trying to run a game from a different region. You must edit the settings for the loader so it can force your console region, if your loader supports it like the newer Neogamma does.

I understand that the "u" in my version code means American. Does that mean that my wii is NTSC? Or is there another way to determine my wii's region? Also, how do I access these options to force region in the loader? I'm using neogamma but I don't recall the version. .03 perhaps.

    Yes USA Wiis are NTSC.

The symptom you describe is what you get when running, in your case, a PAL game. Not sure which Neogamma you are using but why not update and run the latest, I believe this one is a boot.dol rather than a channel.

so, sadly i tried this and could not fix the issue. i updated neogamma and when i launched from the boot.dol off my sd i got error 2091 i believe. when i tried to launch neogamma from the HBC i avoided this error but after selecting force region on in the options i got the same video symptom.

    any more suggestions?

the new neogamma suggested that if i still ahd compatibility issues i should update my cios... but im still too newb to fully understand that. Any help is massively appreciated.

finally, i was wondering if the old neogamma wad still being installed could be affecting the working order of the new app version.

Make sure you're on cios38rev14, and if that doesn't work try downloading again in your region.

Thanks to you guys! This advice helped me to get the vast majority of my backups to work properly. I do however have a few that now hang on the green screen. I researched this for a few days and found 3 suggestions: update cios38, change video patch and patch up country settings in neogamma, and update imgburn and retry at 4x. I tried all of these in addition to simply downloading in NTSC to no avail. Any ideas? The hanging games are "wario ware: smooth moves" and "sports resort"
