Why would a game load from SD but not DVD? - neogamma

Is there any reason Neogamma would throw up a green screen (and reboot to the system menu) when booting a dvd from the same iso as a game that works from sd card? This is really confusing and frustrating me...I'm out of ideas. At first I thought it was because I was forcing the video mode, but that wasn't the problem. Then I thought maybe the IOS the game uses was outdated so I got a newer version but still no luck.

On my third dvd now, trying to get this working for my less Wii-savvy friend. Any pointers would be great. Thanks!

EDIT: Never mind...seems this game can't be played from dvd without a chip? Weird...

If the game works playing from SD, then the IOS needed by the game is installed in the Wii. As you report using the same loader for both the SD and DVD i.e. NeoGamma, then we know the settings for NeoGamma appear to be OK. That leaves only the medium as causing the problem.

    1. the DVD might have a problem: Use ImgBurn software burni to Verbatim DVD-R blank discs. Set initial burn speed at 4X, if fail try 2.4 or 2X, and finally 1X.

2, Failing all those-is the Wii a new one? It may have the D3-2 chip that Nintendo is using to prevent backup discs from being read-the workaround for that is to play backup games from SD or USB. You friend might need to invest in an external USB HDD: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-usb-hdd.html

Thanks for the reply, but I've already identified the problem. NSMB refuses to load from a backup without a chip. And for the backups that play perfectly in my own (chipped) Wii but not in the case of my friend's Wii, they're verbatims.
