games freeze at random times

I tried configurable usb loader and wiiflow on two different wii's (One is at 4.1 and other is at 4.2). Using different external USB drives on both.
However on both, the games freeze at random times. I tried Wii Play, mario cart and Big Brain academy. All would freeze after playing for some time. Have to do a hard reboot to get it working again.
What could be wrong ?
