Please help with USB loader GX
Hi there i seem to have a strange problem i looked around this site but could not find a solution i have a wii modchip with running USB Loader GX the problem i have is that when i use a USB 8GB stick it works fine boots the games and all but when i use a maxtor 160GB portable HD and 400GB HD with format using the WBFS i can loads games of the computer every all okay on the computer as soon as i plug in the HD on the Wii it either say the HD is empty or no partition is found.I have use CIOS V14 installed i have not installed Hermes' IOS 222/223 as the guide i used didnt ask me to.I play all games of the usb stick but as soon i plug in a HD its would not see the partition or it would not see the games.I have done the primary format as asked by the guide.Any help to solve this problem would be grateful.
I get the same problem with USB Loader GX and my Seagate FreeAgent Desk, GX says "waiting for your slow hard drive" and start counting but never recognizes my HDD. So I use a different USB Loader.
I could never get GX to work, cfg always works. In the end I gave up on GX.
My guess would be your drive. I'm using a Maxtor, and cfg and gx both worked fine 'out of the box'. Try another drive my friend. Sucks, but it is what it is. HTH's
I think that it is easier to switch USB Loader then go buy another drive, I use Configurable USB Loader and it loads every game flawlessly. WiiFlow is a nice loader too.
well, the reason i was saying that its probably his drive, is because he said that his flash drive worked fine, so... i wouldn't think that it is the software. but, i've been wrong before. once. just once. ;]~ lol
If you are booting USB Loader GX from a channel - try turning on your Wii first with the HDD turned off or unplugged, when you press "A" and the menu shows, plug in your HDD and wait for the HDD to boot (light turns on if there is one) then select your USB Loader channel. HDD should be recognized.

If this process doesn't work then your HDD probably is not compatible, if you set it up correctly.
The thing is, USB Loader GX is not 100% compatible with my seagate, if I use this process then my HDD is recognized by USB Loader GX. I used to do this with all USB Loaders until cIOS38 rev14 was released. Now all USB Loaders (except USB Loader GX) recognize my HDD without using this process.
Configurable USB Loader - works
WiiFlow - works
CoverFloader - works
uLoader - works
USB Loader GX - does not work

ok, i put in a flashdrife dats 2G sandisk cruzer n it works fine wen i install gams. den i put in a 16G sandisk cruzer flsashdrive n i cant get it to install games. it gives me an exception error
I have a 1GB PNY, 2GB PNY, and 8 GB sandisc cruzer that all work, so your 16GB sandisc is not supported or you did something wrong. Thanks for the heads up on 16GB sandisc curzer, wont be getting that one.

I'm using USB Loader GX and is very happy about it. A friend of mine had a harddisc that did not work and I borrowed it home to clarify what could be done. It did not work with R14 (IOS249) (neither R15 (IOS 249))
I then installed Hermes v4 (IOS 222) as "recommended" and then I changed (in the \config\GXGlobal.cfg file on my SD card) the cios = 0 to cios = 1. And then BAM! USB Loader GX could find and use his HDD!
Try it out ! Hope this helps !!
