Question Putting games on SD card

Hello everyone,

I've just successfully soft modded my wii into a fully working backup launching console. I have installed Waninkoko’s SD/USB loader, also successfully. As I am a newbie on this wii hacking I would like to ask how I can put backup iso's I have stored on my pc, onto my SD card (and how to format the card to that wii partition thingy I keep reading about), and play them using this loader.
Also I'd like to know, as I still have to buy a bigger SD card, what the wii supports, like just SD cards, or also SDHC cards, because they can have up to 32Gb of memory. Or does the wii/loader have a capacity restriction?

Any thoughts?

you would need to format the card as WBFS.

You could either do this in USB loader or grab a copy of WBFS manager.

USB loader will dump your games from DVD to SD card on the Wii, while WBFS manager will allow you to transfer ISO files from your PC to the SD.

When USB loader or WBFS manager transfers a game/ISO it wil lstrip any unused data from the disc/file, so your transfered games will be smaller than the normal 4.3gb, allowing more games on your SD.

To use an SDHC card you will need to update to system menu 4.1 (NOT 4.2), you can do this with waninkoko's 4.1 updater, this will save all your current softmods and allow safe updating.

You can aso use a USB HDD to store many games!

Thank you man! Extremely helpfull, it works now, great program that wbfs manager, Just 1 more question, do you know a -50 euro hard disk, that works on the wii, and that's still available retail. Cause a 32Gb SDHC card costs about 100 euro, which is alot! It doesn't have to be a real big hd. Just 50 Gb or a little larger!

I have seen about 55-60 Euro Western Digital USB HDDs on Amazon UK occasionally reported by some members. I think these were 500GB so I'm sure you could get a nice Western Digital in your price range. Keep a look out if Amazon serves your area.

Any other suggestions?
