So far, I've used the HackMii installer (v0.6) and Bannerbomb exploit (aad1f_v108) to install the Homebrew channel. I purchased the USB hard drive that showed to be the most reliable (Western Digital My Book Essential 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive WDH1U10000N), based on the recommendations of this site.

I already purchased and backed up several games to isos because I am configuring this for my two kids to receive from Santa on Christmas morning and they love to scratch up DVDs.

I would really like to configure my kids Wii like you've done with yours and i have a few questions. Thanks in advance for the help!

First, I need to make sure I don't brick my kids Wii, because that would sorta ruin their Christmas. I heard that if you load a PAL game iso onto a NTSC system (and vice versa) it can be bricked... Is that true when using a USB loader app like USB Loader GX or just when loading a burned DVD from the disc drive? Is it advisable to use WiiBrickBlocker and/or RegionFrii to ensure I don't brick?

I assume USB Loader GX is the best option at this time, right? Will it work properly with ver 4.1u.

Can I use it with WiiFlow or is that the same thing as USB Loader GX?

I'm pretty unfamiliar with the prii loader app and how to get it to work... Which one should I use and is there a tutorial out there for it?

Again, thank you very much for your assistance. I really appreciate it!
Running out of region games without protection can brick your wii.
GX loader removes update request and makes the game playable on different region.
If using WBFS manager or GX WiiBrickBlocker and/or RegionFrii are not required.
use these if you want to run DVD backups.
Priloader helps prevent bricks by skiping updates and region.

Awesome! Thanks for the fast reply! OK, so what about ? Should it be compatible with priiloader? Or should I just stick to GX if I want to be safe?

Also, WBFS is an appllication that I run on my pc to load games onto my hard drive, correct? Does it install from wad and iso files?

Is there anything else I might want to consider doing?

Again, thanks so much for the help!

I don't know anything about Wiiflow. priiloader is separate.
The WBFS converts ISO files to WBFS format for Wii.
There are other loaders apart from GX,
    Neogamma.

Thanks! What about wad files, does the WBFS manager need to convert those too or are they already in the proper format? Also, what about Nintendo Game Cube files, can those be run through the WBFS manager, or do they not need to be?

    Thanks a lot!

WBFS only converts ISO game files.
Wad files are stored in SD\wad and are installed with wad manager
GC files are not loaded with WBFS.
.dol files are stored in SD\apps and loaded with HBC.

    Hope that helps

So wad files are already to go and don't need to be converted? Is there still the risk of bricking with wad files?

Ok, so I'll need to always have the wad and dol files on an SD card that's inserted into the Wii? Or can I just have an "SD" folder on the USB hard drive?

Does the wad manager work on my PC or only on the Wii?

dol files are executable files for applications, like USB loader, right?

    Thanks again!

Wads once installed are not used again.
dols need to be kept on the SD card

You can have some files on the USB, make sure you get everything working from SD before trying the USB

    Yes

Just to answer your previous question. Wiiflow also works just fine with this set up. Just use the wiiflow .dol instead of the usb loader gx. It's all personal preference.
    Wii 4.1u Softmod
    cIOS38rev14 / Hermes cIOS 222/223
    Priiloader 0.1r15
    Bootmii as IOS
    WiiFlow 1.1r25 (autoboot)
    Western Digital MyPassport Essential 320gb

Check your GX works fine from HBC.
Download the forwarder .dol and store in SD\root.
firstly set autoboot to system menu, return to system menu.
when that works play around with the setup you want.
