There are other programs that can back up a nand. Wii nand dumper is one of them. Google it to learn more. Hope that helps.

If you have bootmii installed as ios and preloader installed it's easy to backup your nand:

load your sd card with your "bootmii" folder containing the: armboot.bin
    bootmii.ini
    ppcboot.elf

and the "boot.elf" file on the root of the sd card

Go into HBC click on the home button of your remote and choose run bootmii

once bootmii starts up use a gamecube controller and click on the clog symbol and choose backup to card.(some people say the power button reset and eject will work but it didn't for me) The nand backup shouldn't take longer than 5min and it will probably detect a few bad sectors. Save the nand.bin to a safe place and your done.

    Hope it works foy ya...

I'm posting this here rather than starting a thread:

I have bootmii installed as IOS on a 3.2U downgraded from I think it was 3.3. Anywho, I want to use the SD channels that are only capable on system menu's 4.0 and 4.1, but I know that If I upgrade with Waninkoko and then try and install Preloader it will brick me.

So the question: I dumped the NAND, it's all good. But if shit hits the fan, I have the option of installing preloader now and being safe, but what about if I want to update to 4.1? How am I going to access my backed up NAND on menu 4.1 without preloader? Thanks for any help at all on this, much appreciated.

The bootmii is kinda useless for me because I don't have a GC contoller and the power/reset options do nothing. What else can I use to back up the nand, I also cannot get YaWnd to work either. I just bought a new 4GB SDHC Scandisk too....WTF?

Hi, even I have exactly same problem. No GC Controller, and Power/Reset buttons not working. What could be other straightforward way to backup NAND?
    thanks in advance.

You are pressing the buttons really quick aren't you? Bootmii is an invaluable tool and worth the cost of a cheapo GC controller.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

I have run into a small issue with BootMii. I am trying to backup the NAND and the process ran as if it was doing the backup. In fact, it was able to run the verification process afterwards and both processes completed successfully. The problem I have is that there is no nand file on my SD card or my USB HDD (FAT32 partition). I thought this process was to put the file on my SD card but there is no file there. The only thing on my SD card is the BootMii directory and the three BootMii files. I had to install BootMii as an IOS instead of boot 2, although I don't think that makes any difference with this issue. The really strange thing is that my SD card shows that it is 500MB full even though the three BootMii files in the BootMii folder only add up to about 300KB or so. It's as if the nand file is there but it is invisible under Windows. I have checked the folder settings in windows explorer and all files should be and are visible in other places.

I will be retrying this nand backup again but I thought this was very strange and wondered if anyone else has run into this.
