well I have the softmod bannerhack/hB channel. and use USB Loader GX I bought a brand new on sale 500gig Free Agent|Desk Seagate USB HD(looks nice when I turn it on cause it has the same colors as teh wii except the pretty blue) and when I first loaded uo GX it said waiting for USB HD to load and it never retrieved the list of games I had on it. so I started it up again and this time I unplugged the power from the back of the hard drive while it was plugged into USB port 1(the one of the far right if looking at the wii from the back) and after i plugged the power back in and the HD spun up the countdown froze for a second and the list came up and havent had any problems since have to do the nplug trick every time I loadup GX but it works im hoping that on some update the GX loader will reset the HD completely to get a proper signal to the Wii when its looking for games. so give that a try guys if nothing else works, I forgot to even look at the compatability list when I headed to staples for the $89.00 500gig(what a deal!!) usb drive. take it easy oh by the way dont know if this has been said before I only glanced from this thread and I had the same problem with trying to get the HD to load on GX. PEACE!!

No, your wrong. I have tried both ports. And I read all the tutorials, I placed it in the correct port the first time.

It is a WD 1tb. It turns on as soon as I plug it in. It seems that USB loader GX just refuses to recognize it half of the time. If I just reboot the wii four or five times, it eventually recognizes it... Kind of defeats the purpose if I have to stand up to reset the wii everytime loader boots into blackscreen...
(I get the same thing with cover flow)

It's not waiting for a slow device. It's straight out blackscreen+freeze. The only way to fix this is with one to multiple hard resets (which requires me to be less than two feet from the wii to hold the button).

It is in the correct USB port, removing and reinserting accomplishes nothing. It appears to be something do to with the CIOS not reading the hardrive 100% of the time or having difficulty straight out running the usbloader GX.

All I know is that it is a pain and almost completely defeats the purpose of having the loader (which is changing games without standing up to get the disk), the only benefit I'm getting right now when I do get it to work after multiple reboots, is faster load time, and I don't know how useful that is considering the pain one goes through to get it to load...

I started this tread, but has solved my problem now. It was the changing of the USB that worked for me too :-)
    Thanks

Unhappy After i installed rev14 i'm getting the message: "Waiting for our slow USB Device: XX

    Hi,

After i installed rev14 i'm getting the message: "Waiting for our slow USB Device: XXsec "

    Wii details:

    version 3.2E
Serial nr first part: LEH100 Last part:892

    This is my story:

I had first an old rev version because my both usb ports was working for loading games with usbloader from hy harddisk
Because of the new mario i was installing the new rev 14. -> choosed voor iso 294

This is what happens: i started the tool usb loader gx: after 3sec i getting green vertical lines over my screen, 2sec later i'm getting a logo with the message :
"Waiting for our slow USB Device: XXsec "
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This are the steps that i've already tried:

Step1: Switched the usb port form left to right and backward. Also tried while i'm seeing that message. No effect (harddisk is flickering like crazy)
Step2: I have a twin brother that using the same harddisk and he doesnt have any issues after installing rev 14. So i tried his harddisk -> same issue
Step3: I tried to check my wii with anytitle Deleter and checked which ios i had, also did this with my twin brother. I installed the differents so it was equal for my wii. Didden't solve te issue.
Step4: Deleted ios249 and 250 with anytitle deleter and reinstalled rev14 again -> same issue.
Step5: Delete ios249 and 250 with anytitle deleter again and tried cios 222 -> same issue. Also did the same steps with rev 13/10/9/7 -> harddisk respone a little bit different (Doesnt flickering that mutch, also tried to switch usb ports. Nothing helps, tried other usb loaders to, older ones -> also saying no response)
Step6: Used the Ios16 and ios32 wad installer -> installed the downgrade installer -> after that i used the firmwaredowngrader to downgrade my wii from 3.2E to 3.1E -> same issue.
    Step7: used cios-fix -> same issue
    Step8 : Installed rev 15 -> same issue.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm out of hope. What could be the solution? Is there a way to to a clean ios install back to the beginning of wii, maybe there are some conflicts in one of my ios version.

Thx for reading i hope you can help me. Search the whole internet for it and also already trying for 3 days to fix it.

    Kind Regards.

    hi,

after some hours of trouble with this error, let me list what happened and how it was solved here:

    what i did before:

    - installed home brew, trucha bug, usb loader, all report ok
    - when plugging external HD, got the message "waiting for your slow ..."
    everytime

    facts that happened here:

    - changing usb ports solve the problem: FALSE - didnt do any good
    - format HD as FAT, FAT32: FALSE - it worked as NTFS
    - you need to do a complete format: FALSE - fast format did the job
    - plug/unplug HD during the countdown - FALSE - didnt help
    - HDs bigger than 250GB dont work: FALSE - 500G worked here, no partition

    what really solved:

    - change the external HD enclosure: the brand new satellite 323 I've bought
didnt work at all, neither my friend's, same model. Changed to a 'imicro'
USB model. Worked at first try.

    other symptoms:

    - when the usb loader doesn't like the usb device:
    - black screen, sometimes vertical white stripes, sometime purple
pixels/little squares, as already reported by others
    - "waiting for your slow usb device..." screen, may or may not appear, and the countdown can be steppy, meaning that you may see 28s,
    then 5s, then reboot
    - when the usb loader likes the usb device:
    - 3 to 5s black screen
    - the dvd drive light turns on for ~1s
    - usb loader screen appears

    other details:

I took my HD/enclosure to a friends' house, where the wii was known to be already
working with usb loader. When he plugged in the HD, the wii init screen (not home
brew, not usb loader, the original wii screen) goes black and/or distorted. The
satellite enclosure was somehow damaging his console.

We speculate that for some users, what really might been happening is some sort
of malfunction at hardware level (the external hardware, like the enclosure). Formating, change usb ports, may have nothing to
do with it. (As long you use the correct usb port, anyways).

    Hope this helps someone else.

    BillUse
