Noob: Need abit of help with running games from HDD on wii

Im looking at moving away from discs and just running my Wii with an external HDD (1 TB in size)

I've searched around this site and others without much sucess on a good wiki for this subject.....

At the moment I have HBC installed and running Wii Gator 0.3 which works fine with discs

    My Wii version is 3.4E

I have installed cIOS36 Rev10 (previously had Rev7 installed) and installed USBLoader v1.5

Do I need to install Waninkoko 4.1 frimware and cIOS38 rev13b or will what I have installed as per above be ok to run games with USBLoader 1.5, will these updates also solve the problem with the likes of wii sports resort???

Also I know I have to format my hdd to WBFS format is there any size restrictions that can be used with the wii and also is it as simple as just putting the iso from my pc hdd to the wbfs hdd or do I have to indivually rip them to it from cd's in the wii, im abit confussed on this part?????

any help would be much appreciated

I'm pretty new at this too but I have got my external HD working recently so I will try to Help. The usb loader app that you use will format the hd to work with the wii it will also upload game disks to the hd so you don't have to worry about your pc not recognizing the wii's format. Not all games will run off of the hd but the ones that do run allot faster and makes it worth it.

Yes, just put the disc in the drive and press + to add it to your HDD. It may take longer than an original disc to copy over. As a estmate a 3Gb disc takes me roughly 30mins to copy...

I also would LOVE to run games from an external harddrive. Softmodded my device yesterday and got the 3.2E Firmware on it so i'll probably have to get USB Loader GX also first, but i'd like to go a bit further:
Is it possible to hook the external HDD up to a normal computer and move/copy backupped games to/from the computer to the external HDD?

That would definitaly save discs and time (and nice to have an extra backup incase the external HDD decides to crash)

i dont know about u but i would use gx loader it updates itself and is alot better than 1.5 usb loader but it is based on 1.5 usb loader but then again gx loader works best with rev10 so far and if games dont run on gx just use neo gamma r5 and turn on the 002 fix and it loads(ghostbusters etc)ya and it does run better than the disc and faster 2

I've just tried it with the USB Loader GX and i can tell you this: I've got myself a 1TB Wii now
Well maybe i should say a 3TB Wii, because the games on the external HDD are way smaller then on the discs (or the size of the ISO files).

Also still WBFS Manager (3.0 here) which is available in both 32 and 64-bit. That piece of software let's you easily format your 1TB Drive when it's hooked up to your computer and you also simply add games from your computer to the external HDD. I've got 17 games which take about 70GB on the computer and only 27GB (!!!) on the external drive.

USB Loader GX also has a configuration option for the 0002 fix (i had that problem also) but after enabling the fix, the games works flawlessly.

    Just awesome!
