Wii Friend Code: What is this code all about? Anyone?
get a game running running on a usb stick (small or large). Install using WBFS for Mac OS X. This will once and for all let you know if its a burner/iso/bu/disc issue. If the game works on usb you'll know the prob lies elsewhere!

good luck anyway!

Unfortunately, I don't own one. I'm around 90% sure that error 972 is a media issue. After I suggested using a DVD-R to a user with 972 on another forum, he had positive results. I asked him to post his burner and DVDs used. I will be 99.9% sure that 972 is a media issue when (if) I find a working combo of burner/DVD and it loads properly. I'll be back once in awhile to post results others have had.

I have same problem, but i don't think it is a media issue. The DVD backup i used is a "*irate" dvd from one store. It can be read at my friend's wii, which is chipmod. So i guess maybe it's cios problem. I will try USB loader to see if it works.

my wii: 4.1u LU39, cios rev14. follow link here to softmod. [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register].

dude, im still quite new here too but remove the 'p' word! We only discuss original games and backups of the games we own on this forum. Carefull or you will get a ban! I dont have the power to do it but be carefull !! Moderators may ban you for that comment!

Read through this thread properly and give more examples of your exact problem as i have on previous pages then someone will more likely answer your questions!!!!

Just trying to help!

I keep getting the disc read error (972) when I attempt to play backups. Normal Wii Games load fine. I softmoded using this tutorial:

[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

We originally thought it was our DVD's ( DVD-RW) and switched ( DVD+RW ), trusting THIS site: [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

I've also installed .wad files of VC games and they work absolutely fine.

To sum up: I have an American Wii, ver. 4.1u. I have Neogamma R6 IOS249(Rev 14). (How do I change the IOS, would that help?) And I cannot play any burned games, because 'a that darned 'ol 972 error!
