FLK I dont think its a prob with your laser either!! Neither do i think its a mac/pc burning issue. Try and burn it on a friends pc and you you prob get the same error. Make sure you try a verbatim disk too. (i used verbatim -r's & phillips -r's)

Hi stomp, i've been told to reinstall cIOS36_rev10-Installer. Since you have reinstalled these files before i wonder i you can help me!

Is the following way suitable to do this?

i.e - uninstall the 18 files of cIOS36_rev10-Installer via wad manager 1.4 from IOS249

delete cIOS36_rev10- from apps folder on sd card and place NEW cIOS36_rev10 file in its place in apps folder and then go back to
wad manager 1.4 and install the 18 files for cIOS36_rev10 instead into IOS249

A few other questions:

1. I had installed PRELOADER after i had previously installed cIOS36_rev10-Installer, will this create further probs?????

2. do i have to do anything to cios_fix again (i.e reinstall it)?????

Hi people i fixed the problem. It wasn't the discs or the laser. The problem i was having (as mentioned in my earlier post!) was that i had a corrupted cIOS36_rev10-Installer.zip

I fixed my problem by

1. downloading cIOS36_rev10-Installer.zip again
2. renamed the old corrupted folder cIOS36_rev10-Installer to cIOS36_rev10-InstallerOLD in the apps folder on the sd card
2. read the README and renamed the cIOS36_rev10-Installer.dol file to boot.dol
3. created a folder on sd card in apps folder called cIOS36_rev10-Installer and placed the newly named boot.dol to this folder.

Then followed the guides instructions which were to run it through homebrewchannel. (clicked onto cIOS36_rev10-Installer through homebrew)

I chose the online method as my wi is connected to my wireless router.

All i had to do was run 'Network Installation' and it did it for me!!!! (the guide also had a offline method where you could use a wad file (cIOS36_rev10-Installer) instead.

I HAD PRELOADER AND BOOTMII and a full NAND BACKUP BEFORE DOING ALL OF THIS!

Now all the games are working except Ghostbusters (but i believe i need to get a more recent version of my cIOS to fix this as its a common issue)

Now im off to install CIOSCORP wads in order to be able to play games through the 'channel loader'.

Anyone know how to get these CIOSCORP wads????

Hope this helps, but i presume you may be using newer cios than me as i cant play ghostbusters or super punchout unless i upgrade!!

wait when you said cIOS36_rev10-Installer I have cIOS38_rev13-installer so does it make a difference? i have a 4.0U LU64 wii
also when i had the 972 problem it said missing IOS or something like that.

Hi Superdragon12,

MAKE SURE YOU TRY A VERBATIM DISK at 1x speed, 2x speed & if you trust your dvd burners laser like i do burn it at the full speed of that the disk will allow ie verbatim at 16x -r. (phillips disc -r seem to work ok and tdk +r with booktype changed work ok for me.

MAke sure you try and use a recent version of imgburn to burn it. It seems to be the favourite!

What app are you getting this error in??? Neogamma6 perhaps????? or something else??

Here a few errors i got from different revisions of neogamma. (i put 4 or 5 versions of neogamma in their own folder in the apps folder on the sd card and renamed the file i had to rename to boot.dol.

I got the errors:

wii read error 972 when using all 10 different backups i burnt previously (when using Neogamma R6)
wii read error 782 when using all 10 different backups i burnt previously (when using Neogamma R5)
wii read error 721 when using all 10 different backups i burnt previously (when using Neogamma R4)
wii read error 559 when using all 10 different backups i burnt previously (when using Neogamma R3)

cIOS38_rev13-installer is an updated version of cIOS36_rev10-Installer so i would presume the same fix may or MAY NOT work for you all i can tell you is it worked for me and another forum member (Flk). AT the time i had the problem i googled the error 972 on google and it appeared that there were only about 4 people that have this problem, you being the 5th!!! (error972 on The only reason i went for this release of the cios was that the guide that i had followed said to! I knew i would get more support if i followed his guide to the letter. He advised that he knew that the cIOS36_rev10-Installer was definately stable. (i just happened to have had corrupted files or as he said "the rev10 release could be buggy at install.
I can play everything on rev10 with 4.0E system menu through neogamma inc later games like punch out and ghostbusters (with 002 fix in neogamma6 options and the eject at wrist screen hack) so im happy for now. I dont think there is much difference from the 2 apart from maybe more support for usb loaders.

Not sure about the 'missing IOS' message, i never had that before may be a cIOS38_rev13 thing? Or maybe you could have downloaded the cios cIOS38_rev13 from a bad source or you had a bad install. Get them again from a tried, tested & trusted link off gbatemp. There are a cIOS38_rev13a and cIOS38_rev13b out now. I also dont know what guide you followed to get to the stage that you are at previously!

In my case re-installing the cIOS**_rev** files sorted my problem. Maybe your system menu will not work in conjuction with the newest version of the cios's. It should have worked fine with 4.0 system menu but if your on 3.4 or earlier it may not work. If you have attempted any previous hacks i.e TP Twilight hack or starlite thats a different area as i dont know much about the tp hack as i have never followed it.

I have read this forum very carefully. I have the same problam with my disks. I have Neo Gamma R6, cIOS38_rev13 and get the error 972. My disks are VErbatim DVD+R and wrote them at 8x. Do you think this might be the problem ? Waht disks should i use, and what sped ?

I was getting the disc error 721 on Neogamma R4 and found this topic via the search function and I decided to download the cios36_rev10installer and re-try ..... hey presto playing backups spot on now.
