I just started using cover flow and love it. I am loading it from home brew for now. I have a couple questions though.. I am on menu 3.2U and I might want to play certain pal games.. do I have to do anything else other then force video to NTSC???

also I would love the wad file.. can't find from google... my question on that is what ios option to use at wad manger 1.4 start up? the wad would make it its own channel correct??? or is it better to use a forwarder? I am kinda new to all this but learn quickly.

I've been downloading pal isos for my usb loader (uloader) on an ntsc wii, but I'm afraid to try any of them because I've heard that the games will try to update the firmware on my wii and brick it. Is this a legitimate concern?

    uloader

Check out this USB loader called uloader which claims to do wonderous things including PAL to NTSC:
USB and Normal Loaders - TehSkeen
Note the link pertains to uLoader v3.0B which is an update. I assume that means you need to install the earlier version first:

I haven't found whether an internet connection is required and/or what type of connection. I'll require full disclosure before I hack up my Wii more than it already is!

friiregion and wiigionfree dont work for me. It says the file is converted, but still shows up as Pal on my hard drive, and works messed up like it did when it was Pal. I think since I don't have a mod-chip, these apps don't work. And since the files are ISOs played from a hard drive, the freeloader can't help me here.

Is there any way I can get a Pal game iso to work on my wii through the USB loader?
you do not need to convert any games since your wii is hacked its region free. all u have to do it change the settings in whatever loader you are using to use NTSC and your games will no longer be in black and white

however you can use a program called wiiflow. you can change the settings to use NTSC as default and never have to wry about the gaming being pal or ntsc

or if you really want there is a program called Wii_ISO_Region_Patcher.exe which will change it from pal to ntsc or vice versa

    Peek & poke

Does anyone remember the old Applesoft Basic programming language? If you want to write a byte to a specific address it's POKE FF:BF25, or read it's PEEK... I gotta chuckle when I think about Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs. Two geeks from Stanford inventing the world's 1st PC (Apple II) in their garage...
Anyway, I got peekin & pokin around about video scan formats. It gets real complex, & usually requires hardware to make a video scan conversion. If you want to educate yourself, here's a link about NTSC, VGA, PAL, etc:
    VGA to TV converter page
To know all about video scan formats, you need an ocilloscope, calculus, a degree in electrical engineering, and an Einstein brain...

Supposedly, you can use this program to patch your (.iso ?) file to the NTSC format. I haven't tried it, maybe I will when I get time to run it on an isolated (guinea pig) machine. Good luck !!!
