Us Wii with USB Loader GX does not work with 3TB HD

    Hello All,
I have wii that runs USB Loader GX (Sorry not sure of the version) and loads games from a 500GB HD that is formatted in WBFS. When I connect a 3TB Drive formatted in FAT32, the wii crashes with a system dump error. How can I get the 3TB FAT32 Drive to work on this wii? Is there a setting in USB Loader settings that can be changed to recognize this drive? If not, can you please advise on the easiest way to get this working?
Thank you all so much in advance!
    Happy Holdiays!!!

There is a saved config file that tells it what type of partition to be expecting. If you change the drive out without resetting this config file, it may cause problems.

Look for global config files (I think in a separate directory on the SD card than the /apps/usbloadergx directory, and delete it. Rerunning GX will then reset the config file with a new set of defaults, and it might work.

It is also possible that the drive isn't compatible with the Wii. we have a collection of hard drive model numbers known to work (and known not to work) here: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...lity-list.html

Is the drive USB 2.0 or USB 3.0? If 3.0, you may need a set of v10 beta cIOSs to increase compatibility. I'm not completely sure about which ones to choose, but there is a cIOS guide floating around the site. Search for it.

The 3TB HD is 3.0. This HD has wii games on it and works ok with a modded wii u I have. With that said, does that change any of the next steps? Thanks again!

No. As Wii U and Wii are two separate systems (though similar when in vWii mode), what works on Wii U still may not work on a Wii. If you want to try to get that hard drive to work on a Wii, you'll have to try some of the alternate cIOSs out there to make the Wii more 3.0 friendly.

3.0 is fairly new. Wii is at most 7 years old now compared to the at most 1 year old of a Wii U.

So if I cannot get the 3TB 3.0 drive to work, I should obtain a known good 3TB 2.0 drive? Thank you for your help!!
