Can I load two copies of the same game on my USB drive?

Hi, all.

As you know, many games only have two save game slots. My issue is that i have three kids and 2 just isn't enough! Is there a way to load two copies of the same game on a USB hard drive? That way, I can increase the number of save game slots.

Is there another way to increase the number of save slots? I know I can transfer save games to an SD card. Is it easy to swap the save games from SD card to the Wii so that each kid can have their own?

Sorry if these are simple questions, but I don't know much about it.

Let's put it this way, what if your bought two same DVD copies of the same Wii game, will that increase the number of save game slots?

As the same game have the same Title ID's, it won't affect the number of save game slots IN-GAME (still the same and will not increase or double).

However, since PAL and NTSC versions of the same game have different Title ID's, loading one PAL copy and one NTSC copy of the same game will yield two different version of save game slots in your Wii System memory.

I was thinking that maybe there was a way to change the game ID, but I didn't think of the PAL version as the second. I will give it a try.

you can try to revise the GameID with hex editor, then have the two copies of the "same game" (virtually) on usbdrive.
however, you the have to "make" the game cover for the "dual" copy yourself. Game cover files are named by GameID.

LOL I was just thinking the same thing, but then I realized that the software itself will call to the same named save file regardless of the disc id. SavegameManager is a way to do this, but not realistic for a quick change (which is required for impatient kids lol) I wonder if nand emulation could provide an alternative? It would be a bit quicker, but still require user changes.

Rename the game at WiiBackupMgr is possible. Isn't it?
But, not sure if the rename can confuse/fool SaveGameMgr. LOL

Yeah, renaming the game can be done. I was talking about how the game itself, regardless of how it is named, still will look for the same save file. Hope that made more sense...lol

Changing the title id in the disc header will create a new save game id, so you can have multilples of the same game using different save files. You can use wiiisorenamerv3. So if you had an original Mario Kart, and a custom Mario Kart, each could be installed to the same drive and use a different save game. If they have the same id, they will use the same save. I believe you could have multiples of the same game using the same save, but just change the title name and keep the same ID, that should work with a fat drive, not sure about wbfs drives.
