    Wiihacks senior citizens arrest/ban!!!!

We all know how busy the mods are and sometimes we feel unsure whether to contact them or not.
I think it would be a great idea to give senior members (nearly there myself) powers to temp ban someone who is not abiding by the rules. Then posting the the reason etc to the mods, and in there own time either remove the ban with a warning or give a complete ban.
If a senior member is abusing these powers they should have them taken away.

If we gave normal users the ability to do that, then it would be hard to keep up with the people that they have banned. Never feel that you shouldn't contact a MOD about a problem with someone. Remember there is always the ignore option.

Again always feel free to report the post or contact a MOD if you feel that the person in question is a problem.

I'm inclined to agree with s0ur. I don't think non-mod members should have ban rights. The only requisite for senior member is post count, whereas mods are hand picked to do the jobs they do in trust. And it's not that most if not all of the senior members here aren't reliable guys, they're all pretty darn cool if you ask me, but I think that ban hammer is a responsibility best left only to those who have complete confidence from the dudes and dudettes upstairs.

For what it's worth I ran the report button last night around midnight over this nub who posted a porn link. Within like 10 minutes I checked again and not only was his post was gone, the member was banned.

ps- senior citizen?? you callin' us OLD wiimaster?? /bumps into glass door.

imo, a few more of the older senior members being promoted to VWA/Jr MODs would not go amiss, they could be directly responsible for moving a lot of the posts round to the right forums, not being critical, it's just an observation, but a lot of the newbies just turn up & post wherever they think is right, and a lot of the times it is just posted in the wrong forum to start with.

And with more junior staff there may be the chance to let the more senior staff develop the forum rather than answering newbie posts, you may even allocate certain junior staff to look after the more active forums/stickied threads with a bit more hands on.

This is a huge forum with a good base of regulars, and I can only see it getting bigger rather than smaller, therefore more active and more work for staff.

And I still think the creation of FLS (no MOD powers) would be beneficial, with an emphasis of anyone can answer, but an answer from an FLS carries more weight type of thing.
Please remember your manners - say Thank You if someone helped , it doesn't hurt

That is why i posted that whole ignore thing. I used the report button when someone was posting foul language or using pornographic links and a username that was highly racial. As a frequent member that didn't have mod responsibilities I didn't want to bother staff when someone called me a jerk or said I was stupid, but I did wanna make sure I never seen them again and that everyone else knew that person might act that way to them as well. This is the sort of thing that will make you mad if you are not expecting it and possibly cause a person to act inappropriately as well.

It is a good thing to report inappropriate behavior, I just didn't want to be the guy who abused it and it was quite empowering to just eliminate someone from my sight when they mistreated the oppurtunity to take advice from someone who was willing to spend time giving it to them.
Sent from my van, down by the river.

I can see where the idea is coming from, But think of all those people with the power to ban It could get messy very very quickly......
