newbie need's help
Well, here is the situation. I'm a total newb with consoles. I wanted to upgrade CIOS and all that stuff, because some games don't want to start or they (games) want to update system whenever I insert a game disc (example: Just Dace 3). When I start neo gamma R7 it says that I have cIOS revision 4 and that neogamma was written for rev. 14, but it's working. no compatibility issues or any problems.
I've bought a hard moded wii 4.1E from a friend of mine. He did't upgrade or downgrade anything.
What's installed on wii:
-Homebrew channel (this is what's on the homebrew: 8.star fall; Any region changer; Wad manager 3)
-neo gamma disc loader R7
How can I update cios and all that stuff?
I realy want to install USB loader (whenever i tried it always crashed)
I know that I can soft mode it, but I realy don't know how.
The biggest problem is that I don't realy know where to start, so I will be gratefull for any help.
If there was a post simmilar to this one, I have to alopogize (i haven't found a simmilar problem).
Thanks a lot.

Thats an out of date mod. You should follow the softmod any wii guide in my signature. There is a section for mods with HBC installed, follow that. It will overwrite everything you have and get you fully updated. The one thing I recommend doing firs it running starfall and disabling all of the hacks first. If you don't know which ones are activated then just run through the list and uninstall all of them to be safe. The guide I directed you to will install priiloader which does the same thing and so much more than starfall. The 2 programs do not play well together so be sure to remove the starfall hacks first then do the Any wii guide.
There is also a "must read for noobs" link at the top of my signature. I suggest you look at that too, it is a great rundown on hacking in general.

Get a fresh copy of starfall and see what happens.
Starfall is obsolete... is there something you want to do that priiloader doesnt do? Priiloader is installed w/ the standard any wii mod on our site.
i just want to update and softmod the wii .. but as i said before there is a problem with starfall and it would not start .. so your friend here said that i should install a fres copy of starfall and see if there will be a difference ... and it will run .. hopefully :\
update of my situation.. tryed with a fresh copy of starfall ... but it does the same thing ... just exits and writes .... FAILED ... EXITING ... what to do next ?

Ok, so you're on 4.1. I'd say forget about starfall completely and just follow the anywii guide. Your choice you can use teh HBC already installed option or Bannerbomb. I presume you've got a 1 or 2 gig SD card that you've formatted to fat.
Once you get started on this guide, best bet would be to close this thread and post on the any wii thread. F

so i don't have to disable/uninstall the hacks provided by starfall ?
and sorry about the double post ... will remember this for the next time ..
It should handle everything for you. Based on the fact that you're using starfall, I'm presuming you have a really old white wii. With a bit of luck, you should be able to install bootmii as boot2. If thats the case, your backup is your safety net. You can pretty much do whatever you want, and as long as you keep that nand backup, you can always go back by simply restoring it.
In any case, I believe starfall works like priiloader, in that it attaches itself to the system menu. You'll be installing a new system menu, so it should go away.
