    Something odd I noticed..

After modifying my boot2 Wii using mauifrog's Softmod ANY Wii guide, I made backups of my gamecube games (mainly every Sonic game on the GC) and I've been loading them from a disc after writing them to a Verbatim DVD-R using ImgBurn.. One thing I noticed, is when I get to the System Menu, I notice in the disc channel it reads the game as a gamecube game, I was wondering if it would be safe to just load from that, instead of opening NeoGamma and loading a disc. I haven't tried it yet, in fears of possibly bricking my Wii, also is there any problems ripping a game to a disc, rather than loading from a hard drive? If so, I might just switch to loading from my hard drive, instead of disc.

It wouldn't brick your Wii, but it would give you read error.

Ah, alright then. I had no problem loading the disc from NeoGamma R9. Say if I wanted to use my Hard Drive instead of disc, I could add multiple ISO' and play from that, correct? Can I still use NeoGamma R9? Or would I use another loader program? Like USBLoader GX for example.

For GC games? You have to use a disk for those unless you hardmod (WODE or SunDriver) or use Swiss, which is still in beta. Wii games can only be loaded with NeoGamma if the game is on a WBFS partition, which is no longer recommended. FAT32 (or NTFS) and a USB loader like WiiFlow, Configurable USB Loader, or USB Loader GX will be your best bet.

Okay.. so for Wii games I can just back them up to my hard drive (after formatting it to FAT32) and load them from WiiFlow? As for GC games, I'm stuck using discs to load them? Is there any subtle differences from using a MiniDVD to write the ISO onto it, rather than a regular DVD-R?

    Yes and yes.

Yes, the main one being a minidvd will not fit into your Wii....

Isn't a MiniDVD what the original GC games were used on? I'm probably mistaken, I've never looked into that kind of thing.. But alright, thanks guys. I'll keep my GC backups on their discs, and my Wii backups on my hard drive.
