Thread: WiiMC - not much luck

    WiiMC - not much luck

I had an older version of WiiMC but hadn't used it much because it was too flaky. I've installed the latest version of WiiMC (1.2.0) but now that seems worse!

When I load up the new version it gives me a warning that my ios isn't supported so stability may be a problem - it then crashes often with nasty black screens with error dumps on screen.

Am I doing something wrong - is there a better media system?

All I really want to do is have the ability to play some xvid files from a network harddrive

    Do you have IOS58 installed?
    SM 4.1 (v499) - BootMii/IOS v1.5 - HBC 1.1.2 - Priiloader 0.8b6 - d2x v9(r49) - WiiFlow 4.1.1

I'm not sure to be honest, I've got a bit lost with all the IOS stuff recently!

I've just update one part for 249 and 250 following a guide on here. It was something like d2x version 7 final.

IIRC from a year or so ago there was an application I could put on the SD card which would generate a text file of what was installed - but I can't remember what it was called to search for it! (just found the guide in your signature above!!)

Run a sysCheck (the link you found in my sig) and post the output.

I've tried to run syscheck but can't

The beta 7 version wouldn't download from the link in your sig, the beta 9 version does download but when I run it, it starts going but then throws a DSI exception error.

I found an older version 1.6.2 on the web but that just hangs when it checks the IOS's.

    Any ideas?

Every game I have works perfectly including some newer ones etc, it's just WiiMC that I've never been able to get to run well, and now syscheck!

WiiMC needs IOS58 to run properly. You have IOS38...

    Right that may be why!

Will changing from 38 to 58 cause any problems with the games / make any difference?

And secondly how do I change from 38 to 58?

    Thanks

Right I installed IOS58, then I reinstalled the Homebrew Channel.

    The syscheck report is now:

    Is that all OK now?

WiiMC now looks to work OK but will need to test it further really

if it runs properly then you're good.. for now. if you have any further problems, it wouldn't hurt to update your softmod (see 2nd posters softmod any wii link) because your softmod seems a bit outdated.
