Thread: Softmode 4.3 error code when playing original disks

  1. #1

Question Softmode 4.3 error code when playing original disks

Softmodded Wii via BatHaxx on a 4.3, plays games from USB drive.

However will not play from DVD, the error code is .... ERROR! (ret = -2)

Can't seem to find any reference to this anywhere.

    Help!!!

Are these burned games or original disks? I can't find any reference to it either. Weird. Are you sure it's -2?

So, just to verify, you are saying that the disc channel gives you a ret -2 error when playing original discs?

Yes, that is what I am saying.

I am also unable to backup orginal games from DVD to the attached HDD via cfgUSBLoader.

However I can play previously backed up games from the HDD via cfgUSBLoader

    Thanks

If I use the Disk channel (the one in the top left of the screen) that a normal non modded Wii has I get an Error. No error number. Just says eject disc and look at the Wii manual.

If I use the USB loader channel then the games from the HDD drive work fine.

If I use the USB loader channel with an Original wii disc in the drive and I press (+) on the controller it attempts to read the Original disc and I get ERROR!(ret = -2)

It sounds like your laser is failing.

Yeah that's the only thing I can think of. I highly doubt it's a software issue as nothing should make it unable to read original disks. I assume said disks work on other Wiis (either virgin or modded).

    Hi

I kind of agree with what you are saying, its just a heck of a coincidence that the laser starts to fail a day after the softmod.
