Hard Drive Can It Be Used For The Wii and for media use ie multi purpose?

im going to be modifying my girlfriends sons wii soon, so i was thinking the seagate expansion portable 320gb hard drive for 53 from ebay is a good choice, anyway can this be partitioned or used in a way that i can use it on the modded wii for games and i can also plug it into a dvd player with usb so i can run movies etc from it. It would certainly make the hard drive better value if it can be used for both.

    cheers rab

Absolutely! You don't even need to partition. Simply format it as FAT32 and you'll be able to store both your games, your media, and any other files you want. You can even play your movies with the Wii itself if you want using WiiMC (it also plays music and DVD's).

it sure can. See here for more information. Also note that not all Wiis can play DVD's. Depending on when it was made, it may have a chip that doesn't read them. You can easily test it out though by sticking a DVD in the slot and trying to load it with WiiMC.
