New Wasabi Dx Install - No LED lights
My old drive just died so i bought a new D2C which also came with the Wasabi Dx (saving me the pain of unsoldering the v1).
1) After plugging it in, the LED on the Wasabi does not light up. I does not go into the menu (3 eject presses) and does not read the v3 upgrade DVD. I can play an original Wii Sports game so the wiring must be ok. Does anyone have any ideas to help me get it running?
2) The Wasabi website says to verify the Gnd and 3v3 connections but these do not have anything attached to them since the Wasabi Dx is plugged into the ribbons. Does this mean to take a voltmeter to the Gnd and 3v3 on the wafer? Doesn't the chip get power from the ribbon?
3) Does anyone recommend the Wii clip? Does this make it easier to install.
4) Does anyone recommend the Wasabi zero? Does it plug into the Wasabi Dx?
I ordered the Wasabi DX bundle from Modchipcentral for 49$ + SH. The service and shipping is very fast, you can get it withing 2-3 days. The bundle contains the Wasabi DX chip, 2 screwdrivers (1 triwing, 1 phillips), the ribbon cable and the V16 Wii clip to make the DX chip act as a Zero with all the features of the Wasabi Zero. You simply install the DX chip in DX mode with the ribbon cable, set the DIP switches. Then you install either the v2.0 or the v3.0 of the DX upgrade and config disc. Then you can remove the ribbon cable and use the Wii V16 clip with the DX chip to use it as a Wasabi Zero. Simply snap the clip on the D2C chipset on your Wii. Be very careful not to damage the small pins around the PCB or inside the V16 clip. Then reassemble the Wii. Use the Wasabi Zero v3.0 config disc to configure the chip, You can enable/disable the GC audio streaming and use the 3x or 6x reading speed.
