Do you absolutely need SD instead of SDHC?

I am using an SDHC card, and using that I was able to install the homebrew channel with indiana pwns. However, I could not install bootmii at all. Neither as an IOS or as whatever else it installs as. I am also unable to install any IOS's. They just freeze when I attempt to install them with either an SDHC card or my external harddrive.

I am posting here to determine whether or not it is the SD card or a problem with the wii. Thank you

If using an sdhc did not work, what do think is the problem? Honestly do you really have to ask why it is recommended?

My assumption was that it would not be read at all, and it was read, and so I asked this question before buying an SD card I wasn't sure I needed.

Just because something can partially function, is no indication it will work for something like this.
You have exausted the posiibilities, now you can move on and do what is needed.

In Normalcey's defense, though, I use an SDHC card and did manage to install Bootmii without any problems... Couldn't it just be a question of procedure? I mean, I'm not knocking the benefits of using SD over SDHC - as you rightly implied, there's a reason for it being recommended - but in this particular case, that might not be the issue..

You are correct in that following another procedure that is not outlined in one of our guides is failure. But this is less than a 10 dollar investment to find out the truth.

as far as wiis go.. sm 4.0+ will support SDHC,.. BUT that doesnt mean the HBC apps will.. some also get lucky and succeed using an sdhc card.. If you read through mauis guide a "few" have posted that they succeeded.. but those users are few an far between.. Most users get partial usability.. but partial isnt good enough.. all you can do is try it.. if it doesnt work then you know your answer..

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here

Here's the 5c version of it. The hackmii installer is much more particular about cards than other applications. It just is. While you *MIGHT* have success with SDHC, we do not recommend it. Because, as you've already found out, it doesnt CONSISTENTLY work.

Go look around the house for an old camera or *GASP* shell out a couple of dollars for an SD card.
