IOS / cIOS clarification please
I soft modded my 4.2u wii well over a year ago using sticky's guide and it for the most part worked perfectly, a couple games took a little bit of playing and there were a couple games I never actually got to work. Anyways, my old roommates somehow managed to fry my wbfs drive, now that I have a new one, I am having nothing but trouble running my backups. After three days of reading posts, I realized that i have no idea how IOS / cIOS work and this may be my issues. Take madworld for instance. I have read that it runs through ios 53. Now I am using both USB Loader GX and wiiFlow, neither will let me choose ios 53 to load it through. I have re-installed my cIOS 250 to run with 53, but that made no difference, its still black screening. Next I used NUSD to get the latest version of ios 53 and installed it, no change.
Is there something I am just not getting, or a step somewhere I am missing?
I think you may want resoftmod your wii by using the softmod any wii guide, but first maybe post a system check.
Read that i was supposed to put a certain icon to mark this as a spoiler, but for some reason I couldn't see the thumbnail of the icon... took my best guess

Try 250 with the base of 56
I'll give it a try. I think I had 250 with 57 before. Will post results when I get it done. Is there a post on here that explains how these work a little better though? I am having trouble searching for the term ios. It is either too common or too short of word. I am trying to understand this more so I don;t need to ask questions all the time.

Original discs run from IOS, backups run from cIOS. OP already has a base of 56 in slot 249, which should run this game with no problems. (You were along the right lines toby )
Has madworld ever worked? If not, you should try re-ripping the game. Also, you should probably install the recommended configuration from Red_Gh0st's d2x installation guide. Most if not all of our game guides use this configuration.
EDIT: Take a look at the first link in my signature. It has some great info on the questions you are asking.

No worries!!! Like I said you were going in the right direction in suggesting base 56

Some games require a bit of tweaking to get them to work. Check out THIS GUIDE. If your game is not on this list, post back on what game it is and what you have tried. Another syscheck may help as well.
