Unsure about DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL

Ok so i was reading the sticky thread that talks about it being better to use DVD-R discs than DVD+R discs.
I recently bought some memorex DVD+R DL discs. Now I know that it might not be the best brand of choice but that is what I'm not focusing on right now.
I did some research and found out that DVD-R DL are dual layer discs and its been proven that dual layer discs make your wii die faster. I also found out that DVD+R DL are double layer discs. This I can't find any information about regarding back-ups. Do double layer discs also kill your wii faster or are those just dual layer? If so I will return the memorex's and get a different brand that are DVD-R. Also the game I'm trying to backup is SSBB.
    Can someone help me out?

Can't spend that much money right now. Ok well I guess I'll return these memorex dvds and pick up some DVD-R. Gotta love staples return policy. Already opened them but I didn't use them and I can return them also any specific brand that I should be looking out for? I can't get verbatim as Staples doesn't sell them. Are maxell or sony good? I'm gonna assume not to get these lol. Imation 5/Pack 4.7GB DVD-R, Jewel Case | Staples®

Verbatim DVD-R (Azo Dye) or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R. The rest = fail in terms of longevity... learn that now, or learn the hard way.

Imation = CMC MAG, exceptionally inferior media.

honestly... most of them work.. but the quality does make a difference in how well they work.. freezing and errors can occur often and lead you to waste more money... you can get a decent sized hdd for pretty cheap these days.. your'll spend a ton more on discs only to throw them away.. but its your $$

And what does that have to do with DVD media or a true (in the sense meant) USB HD? Maybe you equate that to a USB HD, that'd be a yes in the vague and a no in the direct senses.

I ment as in I'm going to buy it for use on the wii. The guy said that a usb would be more worth it.
Also I'm not sure how to make sense of your post. Call me stupid but I just don't get what you are trying to say.
Also heres the flash drive I was talking about

Look at the thread title. Does a usb hdd dongle have anything to do with a dvd disc?

    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...lity-list.html

Look at the list above. This is taking the thread off topic so no more posting here...

I don't see the 8gb on that list but I see it on this one
USB Devices Compatibility List - WikiTempot sure which list is the most recent though
But oh well as it was stated before that what I was posting was off topic. So no more posting
