A few hours ago Nintendo held a Nintendo 3DS press conference. The topic was the 3DS November firmware update and here are the highlights:

  • 3D video recording (a feature first touted back in March) will be enabled. You'll have plenty of options to tweak your clips (which can be up to 10 minutes long), including enabling stop-motion animation.

  • There's a map overlay to show where Miis you've collected in StreetPass are from.

  • You'll be able to transfer software to other 3DS systems.

  • The 3DS RPG Find Mii will get a sequel, available only if you've cleared the first iteration.

Nintendo also mentioned Swapnote/Nintendo Letter Box. A new Nintendo 3DS feature which gives Nintendo 3DS owners the chance to send 3D messages to their friends via the SpotPass™ and StreetPass features. Users can hand-write messages in 3D and also include picture and sound. Available for free download in December.

Another thing mentioned in the 3DS conference was the long awaited Mario Kart 7. Mario Kart 7 will support 8-player online and, most importantly, it will run at 60 frames per second. It has also been revealed that the game will have a Mario kart 7 channel which collects data from StreetPass, including the ghost Miis of players you pass in the street.

You can also select a player's data from the Mario Kart Channel and then race against them online.
