    Gamecube backups, noob question

hey i have my buddies black wii from what he believes is a 2010 model and im wondering if it can read dvd-r's. i've heard from some sources that none of them can, while others say that some of them can. i went to the website to check what disk drive i had but all it gave me was my model number, which is RVL-001 USA. its copyrighted 2006, and my serial number is LU200456294. i would just try it out, but i have no black dvd's and dont feel like wasting unnecessary money on them.

i think its strange the my copyright date is so early, so i think if there are any black wii's that can play them, this is one.

thanks for the help, sorry for being a noob. please dont tell me where to go to find out. im retired from the video game scene and im doing my buddy a favor. its just a headache for me to try and look myself, i know it will only take one of you 10 seconds

On your harddrive (file name: Bliepo.crazy)
You don't need black dvd's. An ordinary DVD-r will do the trick.
Awesome sig picture does not work

The data base shows that serial number has a 75% chance of having a D4 drive.
Which is one of the drives that can NOT read backups.
I'm afraid your friend is probably out of luck.

i agree with bmarlo but you might consider looking into getting a chip for it. i'm sure there is something out there that will do the trick. it might even be easier than you think it will be. good luck buddy.
