It was only a matter of time before one of Nintendo's biggest franchises got its own 3DS title and now it is official that Pokémon Rumble Blast will be hitting the console in October (in the US). The free Pokémon Pokédex app is already available on the 3DS and should whet fans' appetites for this upcoming title which will see over 600 kinds of Pokemon do battle.
Ah er um hang on a sec, that's 600 kinds of toy Pokemon. Yes this game won't see the player unleashing their “real” Pokémon against each other but they will battle waves of wind up toy Pokémon. Taking on dozens of the critters at once players will work their way through stages and battle bosses as well as other 3DS owners. Some of the Pokemon defeated in battle will be added to the player's team as it wouldn't be Pokémon if you couldn't “catch 'em all”.
If the idea of battling toy Pokémon sounds a bit screwy to you, or like me you quite enjoyed the first game and TV series but lost interest when Nintendo began to abuse the franchise as much as the 'Might Morphin' Power Rangers', then it probably won't be for you. However if this makes you want to whip out your Pokéballs in excitement then there are a few screenies below for your enjoyment.

"Pokémon Rumble Blast delivers instant Pokémon gratification" said Scott Moffitt from Nintendo. Ooh err.
Pokemon Rumble Blast will be available in North America Oct 24.
