    is there anyway to protect homebrew channel?

    There is not any way that I know of, but you could move the channel somewhere 'off screen'.

    Easiest way to do it. Just grab the channel by holding A+B and drag it all the way to the right. I assume you mean protect it so kids won't mess it up?

    how about cfg usb loader? is it the same thing with the drag

    You can also take anything dangerous off the hard drive. Remove MMM and all folders that can do you harm. Just backup your files to your PC and keep only what's needed to play the games after you've moved everything to the far right if you're that worried about it.
