    [Guide] How to Install 5.00 m33-6 and more using Hellcats Recovery Flasher

    Before we begin, there are a few pointers I would like to give.

    DO NOT SCREW WITH YOUR FLASH'S, MORE THAN LIKELY THERE IS A PLUGIN FOR THAT! I WILL GIVE YOU MOST OF THE STUFF YOU WILL HAVE TO DO WITH YOUR

    FLASH'S, DON'T DO ANYMORE UNLESS ITS UNDER GOOD JUDGEMENT BY YOU!

    WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PSP, PLEASE READ ALL WARNING

    THIS GUIDE IS FOR PSP'S WITH A HACKABLE MOTHER BOARD. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE, PLEASE LEAVE I DON'T WANT YOU TO BLAME ME FOR BRICKING YOU.

    DO NOT QUOTE THE ENTIRE GUIDE IN YOUR REPLY, I WILL IGNORE IT AND ASK SOMEONE TO REMOVE IT!

    DO NOT MESS WITH FLASH 0,1,2,3, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

    WE ARE PERMANATELY MODIFYING YOUR PSP, THERE IS A SLIM CHANCE YOU MAY BRICK PLEASE READ THIS AND UNDERSTAND THIS ONE LINE!

    THERE IS A SIGNED VERSION OF Hellcats Recovery Flasher, I HAVE NOT TESTED IT AND I HAVE NO REASON TO, I MAY LATER. IF YOU FIND THIS VERSION, BE

    PREPARED FOR THE WORST!

    I HAVE TESTED THIS THE WAY I INSTRUCT YOU TO FOUR TIMES. I DID NOT BRICK ON ANY PROCESS!

    [spoiler=What you need]
    A PSP
    A USB cable
    A cable to charge your PSP
    An internet connection to download needed files.
    A little bit of patience
    (Optional) A pandora's battery, a spare PSP to make a pandoras, or a spare battery. If you have a spare battery, there is a option in Hellcat's Recovery Flasher to make one. Make it

    before you start, and if all goes well, you can turn it back into a normal battery.
    [/spoiler]

    [spoiler=What Hellcat's recovery flasher can do for you!]
    Hellcat's Recovery Flasher does more than the name says.
    It can install anyone of these CFW's:
    It can backup your NAND
    It can make a pandora battery
    It can restore your NAND dump
    It can install OFW
    [/spoiler]
    [spoiler=Applying the CFW]
    We are upgrading allllllll the way up to 6.39 to use TN HEN and then launch Hellcats with that. If you already have a way of launching homebrew, please skip.
    Step One:
    Format your memory stick, back everything up first.

    Step Two:
    Download 6.39 Update, and put it on your memory stick

    Step Three:
    Run the update, by going to Game, and clicking 6.39 Update, and let if finish itself up.

    Step Four:
    Format your memory card and then place this Mod Pack onto it.

    Step Five:
    Run TN Hombrew Enabler to get started.

    [spoiler=Optional: Check if your PSP is modable]
    If you have a psp 1000, it is moddable and you can skip this step. If you have a PSP 2000, better to check now.

    Step One:
    In the pack above, I included PSPident. Run it.

    Step Two:
    Let it do its magic, and check the motherboard model, its around the middle of the screen. If you have a TA-088v3 and up motherboard, STOP HERE!!!! YOU WILL BRICK IF YOU

    CONTINUE!!! I TOLD YOU, DONT COME CRYING TO ME WHEN YOU BRICK!! YOUR BRICK WILL BE UNFIXABLE!!! (although my boots do need a good cleanin)[/spoiler]

    Step Six:
    Now, launch Hellcats Recovery Flasher found in the Games section of your PSP.

    Step Seven:
    Read all warning, you MAY/WILL brick if you screw around with the program.

    Step Eight:
    Make sure the target Firmware at the top says 5.00! If not, click X to cycle through the available ones.
    [spoiler=Optional, appying other CFW's that hellcats supports]
    To come at a later date, sorry.[/spoiler]

    Step Nine:
    Click on "Install CFW (of version selected above)" and then tell it to "reset (format) settings as well"
    If you don't reset your setting, you will get a BSOD later, simply click the circle to reset them.

    Step Ten:
    Let it do its magic, and then click X when it tells you to to shut down your console.

    Step Eleven:
    Power it back on. If you didn't reset your setting, you will get a BSOD now, simply click the circle to reset them.

    Step Twelve:
    Go through the initial setup, and when you are done with that, your psp should be running 5.00 m33-6![/spoiler]
    [spoiler=Good Apps to have]
    [spoiler=Prometheus]
    This app allows you to play ISO's and CSO's off of your XMB. Quite simple to install.

    Step One:
    Download The installer and place it in the GAME folder on your PSP.

    Step Two:
    Run the Prometheus that shows up on the XMB

    Step Three:
    Click X when it says to.

    Step Four:
    Click X when it is done installing.
    [/spoiler]
    More to come
    [spoiler=Ultimate VSH menu]
    This is an extension to the VSH menu. It adds features you would otherwise have to go into the recovery menu to enable. It also has a option to skip gameboot, hide corrupt icons,

    make a pandora battery, and launch to recovery menu.

    Step One:
    Download Ultimate VSH Menu Installer and put it in your game folder.

    Step Two:
    Launch the game and tell it to install.

    THIS DOES NOT INSTALL TO YOUR FLASH, IT INSTALLS TO THE SEPLUGINS FOLDER!

    Step Three:
    You are now done, press Select to bring up your new menu and enable what you want to do. I personally like to enable skip gameboot.[/spoiler][/spoiler]
    [spoiler=Changing the version.txt to prevent accidental updates.]
    This is quite easy, and will prevent you from accidently updating your PSP. BUT IF YOU MESS AROUND WITH MORE THAN I TELL YOU TO, YOU WILL BRICK! I could take no

    screenshots at this time, Recovery Menu does not support plugins.
    [spoiler=How to do this with Ultimate VSH Menu]
    Step One:
    Go to VSH menu. (Press the select button)

    Step Two:
    Go to USB Device and press the right directional button until it says flash 0

    Step Three:
    Plug in a USB cord and go to USB Connection on the XMB and click X

    Step Four:
    Go to Memory Stick->vsh->etc and open up version.txt

    Step Five:
    Either change the line that says "release:5.00" to "release:9.99" OR copy and paste this into it.
    Code:
     release:9.99:
    build:2740,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
    system:46876@release_500,0x05000010:
    vsh:p6264@release_500,v46652@release_500,20081010:
    target:1:WorldWide
    Step Six:
    Save the file, and exit USB connection.

    Step Seven:
    Go into recovery menu (Hold the Right Trigger while booting up, or go to Recovery Menu using Ultimate VSH Menu)

    Step Eight:
    Go to Configuration and enable "Use Version.txt"
    [/spoiler]
    [spoiler=Recovery Menu method]
    Step One:
    Go into Recovery Menu (Hold the Right Trigger while booting up, or go to Recovery Menu using Ultimate VSH Menu)

    Step Two:
    Go to "XMB Usb Device" and click X until it says "Flash 0"

    Step Three:
    Go down to "Use version.txt" and click X so it is enabled.

    Step Four:
    Exit recovery menu and go to USB Connection on the XMB.

    Step Five:
    Go to Memory Stick->vsh->etc and open up version.txt

    Step Six:
    Either change the line that says "release:5.00" to "release:9.99" OR copy and paste this into it.
    Code:
     release:9.99:
    build:2740,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
    system:46876@release_500,0x05000010:
    vsh:p6264@release_500,v46652@release_500,20081010:
    target:1:WorldWide
    Step Seven:
    Go back into recovery menu and change the XMB USB Device back to memory stick.

    Step Eight:
    Reboot your console for it to take place
    [/spoiler]

    [/spoiler]

    [spoiler=A few things to do in Recovery Menu]
    [spoiler=In Configuration]
    Enable Skip Sony Logo enabled, makes you boot up alot faster

    Hide Corrupt icons enabled, why look at them ugly things

    UMD Mode set to M33 Driver, allows you to play your ISO's and CSO's Don't pirate them, we wont support them or you!

    Use VshMenu set to enabled if its just for you, but disable it if kids use your psp. You can do some stuff you don't want your kids to with Ultimate VSH Menu

    Use Version.txt, read above.

    Speed up MS access, if set to always faster loading times but it might drain your battery a little faster[/spoiler]
    [spoiler=Advanced]
    Go to advanced configuration, dont bother with this.

    For playing ISO's, I heard it is best to Enable the first two, "Plain Modules in UMD/ISO" and "Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO"

    If you plan on using plugins, make sure the last three are enabled.[/spoiler]
    [spoiler=Plugins]
    If you use plugins, you probably will come to this spot alot. For a plugin, you put it in the seplugins section.
    If you have previous plugins, move the .prx's and leave the vsh.txt, game.txt, pops.txt in the folder that the plugin came in

    Now, open the vsh.txt, game.txt, pops.txt whichever one came with your plugins, and copy the line over to your vsh.txt, game.txt, pops.txt already in seplugins.
    This is what a disabled plugin in vsh.txt looks like
    Code:
    ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx 0
    And an enabled one
    Code:
    ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx 1
    Alternativly, you can enable plugins using a plugin manager, or the plugins section of the recovery menu.
    [/spoiler]
    [spoiler=Registry Hacks]
    Click X on both "Activate WMA" and "Activate Flash Player" No need to go on the internet to enable them![/spoiler][/spoiler]

    Why is 5.00 M33 better than ..6.39 Pro B-7 ? If you have a fully hackable mobo why not go to the latest 6.39 CFW ? Will game compatibility not be better ?

    Yes/no. I can use POPSloader on my 5.00m33. The newer one's don't have that compatibility. Also with Prometheus, all games will work just as if they were the latest OFW or CFW, if they are ISO's. If you plan to use disk, it would more than likely be easier with 6.39 than 5.00, but also 5.00m33-6 is also deemed one of the best CFW's out there.

    Sure, that is a easy fix just press the select button on home, and find the one that says "flash 0 protection". Turn it to disabled, (press X or the left and right arrows, i don't remember atm) and then continue.
