This is the new xkey which should be released as advertised in vid in july. The xode is supposed to be released at roughtly the same time,so hopefully there will be vids of that in action soon also.
Straight from the makers mouth, but does'nt seem as plug and play easy as first thought, but its just a case of wait and see before rushing out to buy.
What products have the xKey Team developed in the past?
XKey, Wode, Wiikey, Drivekey, d2pro, xenoGC, Qoob, Crystal Chip, Aladdin XT/XenoFX series mod chips for Xbox 1.
How long has xKey been in development now?
Approximately 6 months.
Will xKey work with all Xbox 360 consoles, including Slim?
Yes and as new drive versions appear we will add support for them too.
How do you install xKey, is it easy?
Very easy, it's Plug 'n' Play, if you can dump the firmware from your drive then you can install the Xkey.
Both PS3 and Wii software backup loaders have compatibility problems with some game titles when loading from hard drive, due to firmware version requirements or protection in general, how is xKey in that regard?
This is where drive emulations really come into their own, because the console sees a real drive with a real disk inserted there is no need for any patching or hacking. Everything 'just works' as normal.
In relation to xKey; what exactly is the Xbox 360 DVD drive needed for?
The Xkey offers two modes, emulation & passthru. In emulation mode the drive is not required at all, in passthru mode the drive works as normal.
Does the Xbox 360 DVD drive need any custom firmware flashed to work with Xkey?
No, quite the opposite in fact. You need a dump of the original drive firmware to configure Xkey. The good news is that's all you need to configure Xkey.
How safe is xKey on Xbox Live compared to iXtreme?
While we take every care to accurately emulate the XBox's drive we do not recommend using Xkey with XBL at launch. Shortly after launch we will release updates that address this.
Also, plenty of people have been banned while using CFW and there are still issues even with the latest iXtreme. For example, in order to pass the new Slim FW checks a lot of data has to be swapped around (C4E's so called 'rootkit'). This takes time and the checks take a lot longer to perform than they would on a stock drive. In the worst case it takes CFW takes 5 times longer to perform the check (15 seconds instead of 2-3). If MS have noticed this then it is quite possible that every Slim owner using CFW has already been marked for a ban.
[See timing graph for details.]
By comparison Xkey features a powerful ARM9 CPU that can perform the FW checks *faster* than the real drive running stock FW. We have the horsepower & the storage capacity to handle anything the future brings.
How will the new XGD3 disc format (eg. Halo Reach) be handled by xKey, any special backup considerations?
We do not anticipate any problems with XGD3, game ISOs are stored on HDD and
are not limited by the capacity of a DL DVDR. Xkey supports any number of HDDs upto 2 TB in size.
Regarding backups in general, most gamers use abgx360 to verify their backup ISO images, is that still recommended with xKey?
abgx360 verifies that the ISO is an accurate backup of a game disk. Whether an ISO is burned to a disk or used by Xkey it must be an accurate backup. For this reason gamers should continue to abgx360 to verify their ISOs.
Besides official updates, are there any features of the xKey that will be open for the user to customize?
We have no plans at this time.
For lazy guys like me, will there be any possibility to select games from the comfort of a sofa?
We do, however, have plans for wireless control of Xkey.
I'm really eager to get my hands on one of these, when can we expect xKey
to be released?
Current plan is for a July launch and we are on track.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us about xKey at this point?
Stay tuned for more exciting announcements.

Are there currently any softmods for owners on a brand new xbox 360 slim (latest dashboard) that enable you to play backups on xbox live without a banning risk - or do I really need to wait and buy x360 key / xode when it comes out? How likely is it that either x360key or xode would provide a permanent solution to the problem of getting banned from xbox live playing games of usb?
There is always a chance of getting banned with a flashed box.
The only drive that you can flash on the slim at the moment is the 9504 but there could be a chance you have the 0225 which hasn't been done yet.
Have a look at the features that are coming with the xkey......

To flash an 0225 drive u need to buy an xtra bit of kit that u can get solderless or a solderable 1 that can then unlock the 0225 and other slim drives for u to be able to write any future fw release, but its extra cash again.
From what i've just read the fw for 0225 is ready and near release any week now,but as said above u'll need that new bit of kit to unlock the drive.
This was written by Ubergeek at team xtreme 1 week ago,so thankyou to him and them.
Now that production is fully underway of the newly designed DG-16D4S PCB we have not only been able to reduce our production costs due to a larger than expected volume of wholesale orders, but we have also closed a deal to source a great amount of very difficult to find parts at a greatly reduced priced.
Our policy is always to be as competitive as possible, and these new savings will be reflected in the RRP and in the wholesale prices.
We should reiterate that this is not a simple copy of the DG-16D4S board, but a custom made version with a new chipset (and not just a single IC change), and it will be completely solderless - the install will simply be a cut and clip design.
Also note that if you are using a 9504 drive (if you are lucky enough to find a non-fake version) that the drive's MT controller can be locked at ANY time via cdb commands. This is non reversible and is not a scare tactic, it is a fact. The custom DG-16D4S PCB has a manual write protect enable / disable switch so YOU are in control. You simply disable WP, Flash the drive, Enable WP and you are done.
We have tested the board on 9504, 0225 and 0401 consoles and they are working perfectly - all on Live with no problems whatsoever.
So, the first custom designed Liteon DG-16D4S Unlocked Replacement PCB now has an RRP of just $59.95.
The Pro Installers Kit which is the main IC and also the add-on circuit for write protect enable / disable etc is still available for an RRP of $19.99 and we are told by most major modders that they will be looking to charge around $30-$40 to install this for you if you can't do it yourself.
We will post actual product images in the next week or so.
There are also several major new products to announce very soon - July will be a busy month indeed

Will you need to open the console for wode or x360 key? Any recommendations of good tools kits for opening it if necessary? I'm getting prepared
they will most probley come with a kit to open up ur xbox
500gig seagate wbsf (to lazy to change)
Nice. I'm hoping to open it without any damage
Have a read of the edit on first post. This post has also been edited, as to weather the 0225 and other slim drives may or may not need the new bit of kit to get the key from drive as i originally wrote that it would be needed,it would only be needed to write fw not read it,so as i did say i'm just going to wait it all out then see what options i have come xdg3 disc releases.
And i still say its starting to cost lots of money to outwit the console makers, and moneys tight for everyone so i think things are going to change for every console owner no matter what make of console you have over the next few years with reguards to getting backup games to play.
