    Houston I have a problem :)

    Hello there

I am not strictly new to the forum as i succesfully softmodded my 4.2e Wii almost two years ago now and have been happily playing backups ever since. That is until my son received Smackdown vs Raw 2011 Pal for xmas (retail copy) and he played it.
On first play it asked to update, which he did (via the disc, wifi was always off), so here iam now with homebrew installed etc, but when ever i try to play a backup using neogamma i just get a black screen.
what did the disc actually update as it is still showing 4.2e ?

    so do i ?
    a) upgrade to 4.3e and try and softmod again or
    b) try to delete all softmod and try and softmod again or
    c) overwrite the existing stuff with a new softmod using a guide

to be honest i did try and use another guide from here. bootmii wasnt loading properly (as ios) priiloader wouldnt do too much, and i couldnt do anything further in the guide as i didint have ios236 installed.

so iam a bit stuck knowing which way to go for the best.

i had some great feedback and help before and the guide was easy to understand and i was softmodded within 15 minutes

any help would be much appreciated

    thanks in advance

    and welcome to

Thank you for becoming a member of the best wii modding site around!

First off you need to read the
Site rules and try your best to abide by them.

Now we know the rules its time to find the right guide for modding your wii, I recommend the

The Softmod Any Wii Guide by Mauifrog

This guide works for all wii's

There are also other guides which you can find in the
    Guides and tutorials section

Once you have completed the guide you need to ascertain if your wii is capable of playing backups via the disc drive or whether you need to be usb loading.

Wii's post 2009 generally cannot play backups via the disc drive and have to use usb loading.

I recommend usb loading anyway as you can add an remove your games easily and there is no wear and tear on your disc drive and no messing about with discs etc.
