Jap wii unbricked but still have issues.. PLEASE HELP!

I've been on the internet all night looking for answers. My Jap wii was semi bricked and I took care of that by downloading some update for the jap wii. I purchased my wii in Hong Kong but I live in US. My wii is a jap wii. Purchased summer of 2007. My problem is that I downloaded 2 games yesterday:

    Cooking_Mama_World_Kitchen_USA_Wii-WiiZARD
    Rayman_Raving_Rabbids_Tv_Party_USA_Wii-WiiZARD

After I insert the game into my console all these japanese characters come up. The only thing I understand is the 001. So I searched up error 001 and came across some threads that is telling me to update my mod chip. How do I know what kind of modchip i have? Is there any links that can show me If i open up my console?

Also some games after i load it in, the screen turns black and I have to restart. Why is that?

Last question and BIGGEST problem (i been searching all night also but no luck, please help.) Is it possible to change my wii into english? Just the menus and channels?

anyregion changer, can change that =P

as for the wii, just open it up, take a pic and show us

or you can make update discs, of all the modchips till it updates *though some lack this feature =P or dvd updates*

Thanks admiral and michael, I installed homebrew and Gecko os and now 1 of the games work out of the 2. Maybe it was the game that i downloaded that don't work. I tried looking into region changer but I'm scared that i might brick it. I read that If I change the region I won't be able to use my mod chip no more or something is not going to work. Not sure. What do you guys suggest?

Ok now, I installed the region changer and I changed everything into english and region to usa and all but now I semi bricked my wii again. Settings is unavailalbe. I can't update from anyregion changer to 3.2 cause my wii connect 24 is not on and I can't read japanese so either way I cant turn it on. So should I download the ntsc-u repad to unbrick it or pop in the ntsc-j iso again? But I thought about it and if i pop in the ntsc-j iso it will unbrick it if it is only still the japanese version so should i just load the ntsc-u?
