Exclamation Install Priiloader To Block Online & Disc Updates & more

Priiloader is a homebrew application which places itself before the system menu and patches the system menu to remove limitations and add a few things. Since its put before the system menu, it allows you to load into the homebrew channel directly. This allows you to repair your wii if you should ever brick, once the brick isn't a full brick.

Priiloader is perfectly safe. It take seconds to actually install, and provided you don't lost power during that, it won't brick you. Once you have it, provided your System Menu or System Menu IOS aren't deleted, you cannot be bricked. This means you are protected from Banner Bricks etc. Also, you can set Priiloader to autoboot BootMii/IOS, and have BootMii/IOS setup to load SNEEK, meaning you can boot directly into a SNEEK environment, i.e. it is IMPOSSIBLE to brick your Wii, as your real NAND isn't touched.

Note- If you followed Cile and/or Mauifrog's Softmod Guides you should already have Priiloader installed. You can check by pressing and holding the reset button when your Wii is booting.

THIS VERSION IS REMOVED DUE TO A BUG THAT COULD BRICK YOUR WII DURING INSTALL
Redesigned a bit of the installer. it is now using the HW_AHBPROT flag set by HBC and no longer requires a patched ios when run from HBC 1.0.7 or above. if it is run from < 1.0.7 then it still requires a patched IOS.
NOTE: the redesigned part of the installer is closed source for now cause of the used code

Titles list is now forced to display in english
Dropped Support of Cios

NOTE: this can lock you out of your own Wii. Please be very careful with this.
Added a menu to list all installed Wiiware/VC titles and start one.
Added a new magic word to force system menu to be started. (The word is "Pune")
Added an option to redirect Gecko output to the screen instead of to a USBGecko.

Added the checksum function from priiloader to the installer. If the checksum fails it asks the user what to do. It checks when:
Copying (installation of priiloader) the System menu app
Restoring (uninstall of priiloader) the System menu app
after Writing the Priiloader app (the checking installation part)
Added basic HBC Stub Loading. If priiloader (or a dol loaded by priiloader) crashes you can press reset to load HBC

killed the DVD spin bug (crediar forgot to close the DVD drive in IOS)
fixed file booting (thx phpgeek)

- Downoad the hacks for priiloader from here hacks_hash.zip
- Extract the file and put the hacks_hash.ini file in the "priiloader" folder.

SD card structure:
SD:/apps/priiloader/hacks_hash.ini

Your priiloader files should look like this.

Now, turn on your Wii while pressing the "reset" button; priiloader should load. Select "System Menu Hacks" and enable the hacks you want.

I recommend: "Block Online Updates", "Block Disc Updates" and the "Move Disc Channel" hacks.

Remember: If you don't know what the hack does- you don't need it.

- Select, Save settings -Press A
- Press B to go back to the main priiloader screen
- You're done!

Congrats!! Now you have succesfully installed priiloader and its system menu hacks. If you had problems during the installation refer to the FAQ/TroubleShooting section below.
What's this hack for?

Not all of these hacks will show up for you, because some only apply for specific System Menus.

Re-enable Bannerbomb v2 - Allows the use of Bannerbomb 2 on System Menu 4.3. You would get an error otherwise.

Block Online Updates - You can run channels that connect to the internet (the Shop Channel, Nintendo Channel, etc.) without being prompted to update.

Block Disc Updates - You can play discs without being forced to do a System Menu update.

Skip disc update check - The same as Block Disc Updates. It's just under a different name.

Region Free EVERYTHING - Allows you to play Wii/GC discs and channels that are outside of your region.

Region Free GC Games - Allows you to play GC games that are outside of your region.

Region Free GC Games (No VM Patch) - The same as "Region Free GC Games"

Region Free Wii Games - Allows you to play Wii games that are outside of your region.

Region Free Channels - Allows you to play channels that are outside of your region.

Lock System Menu with Black Screen - It will just load your Wii to a black screen. It's pointless.

Remove Diagnostic Disc Check - Allows you to auto-boot Wii games through the Recovery Menu.

Remove diag disc check - The same as "Remove Diagnostic Disc Check"

No System Menu Sounds AT ALL - Basically the same as muting your TV. No sound will come from the channels (including the Disc Channel) or from clicking/scrolling, and the background music will be gone.

No System Menu Background Music - A better alternative to the above for most people. Only the background music will be muted, so you can still here the sound when you click on a channel and when scrolling.

No-Delete HAXX,JODI,DVDX,DISC,DISK,RZDx - Prevents deletion of old versions of the HBC, Twilight Hack (any version), and DVDX. It is unnecessary if you have homebrew up to date.

Remove NoCopy Save File Protection - A useless hack. You can copy protected save files to your SD card, but you still can't copy them back.

Force Disc Games to run under IOS249 - Makes discs run under 249 instead of the IOS they are supposed to. It can be helpful if you don't have the required IOS, but should not be used as a permanent fix.

Auto-Press A at Health Screen - You will see the health screen at startup, but only for a second.

Replace Health Screen with Backmenu - Same as above, but instead of the health screen, you will simply see a black screen. It will not speed up the boot process.

Force Standard Recovery Mode - Normally you would have to destroy a GC controller's d-pad to enter Recovery Mode. This will boot straight to it. This is of no use to most people.

OSReport to UsbGecko(slot B) - Outputs info to a USB Gecko if you have one. For developers only.

OSReport to UsbGecko(GeckoOS,B) - As far as I know, this is the same thing.

Move Disc Channel - It allows you to move the Disc Channel just like any other channel (by grabbing with B+A). It also lets you move empty slots, but there is no use to that.

Enabling the Region Free hacks is not recommended as it can cause system instability, and is of no use to most people.

This is useful if you have kids and don't want them to mess with anything like the HBC, System Menu, etc. This is mostly used to boot into loaders.

Get the XXXX app forwarder .dol and put it in the root of your SD card.

Here are some app forwarder .dol files:

Wiiflow Forwarder .dol
Cfg USB Loader Forwarder .dol(needs IOS58)
USB Loader GX Forwarder .dol
WiiXplorer Forwarder .dol v5
uLoader Forwarder .dol
JoyFlow Forwarder .dol
SaveGame Manager GX Forwarder .dol
postLoader Forwarder .dol
(You don't need to rename these to boot.dol)

Power up the Wii while holding the reset button to boot into priiloader. Use the D-pad on the wiimote and choose "Load/Install File"

Choose the dol file to install

Now, go back to the priiloader menu, go into settings, and set autoboot: to installed file.

OPTIONAL: You can set the "Retun To" option to Autoboot, the wii will now autoboot to "installed file".

You can later reverse this by going again to priiloader and set the autoboot option to- System Menu.

This is just if for some reason you want to remove Priiloader.

You can reinstall your system menu to remove priiloader. Everytime you update, reinstall, remove your system menu priiloader disappears.

Check Your Wii's firmware and region by going into settings and it shoud appear in the top right. The region shows at the side of the firmware version. For example:

- 3.0|3.1|3.2|3.4|4.0|4.1|4.2|+

E -Europe,Australia=PAL
U -America=NTSC
J -Japan=NTSC-J

- Download your system menu version using NUSD
- Choose your system menu version from the list and select "pack wad" and start the download
- Put the downloaded .wad file in a folder called "wad" on the root of your sd card
- Run Wad Manager and install the system menu wad and return to the HBC

CAUTION: DO NOT LOSE POWER WHILE INSTALLING THE SYSTEM MENU!

I heard that I needed a patched System IOS in order to install priiloader... is that true?

Not anymore, that was preloader that needed the patched System IOS. Now, all you need is a way of booting homebrew.

Help!! I'm a n00b, how can I install priiloader!!??

Check this guide!

Does priiloader work on every wii firmware?

Yes, priiloader v0.7 is supposed to work on every firmware.

My wii has Cios/Darkcorp installed will I have any issues?

It will give cios error if you try to use corped ios 36,some people had issues with ios36v65535. But I recommend installing Priiloader first for the brick protection in case something goes wrong.

Why version 0.7 and not other versions?

Priiloader v0.7 is the latest there were some bug fixes and good changes. I also recommend Priiloader v0.4, the only thing v0.7 has that 0.4 doesn't, is that it has the feature to autoboot to the HBC and the hacks_hash.ini support. Don't even try installing v0.5, that version was removed because of a bug in the installer that was bricking wiis.

Can Priiloader help if I get a full brick?

No, Bootmii as boot2 is the only thing that can give you full protection.

What's this hacks_hash.ini file?

Those are the system menu hacks. This file needs to be at the priiloader folder on your sd card.
Updated some little things:

- Reuploaded priiloader again with the <no_ios_reload> line from the meta.xml file in the pack
- Corected a few typos
- Added a little more info

Note- If you followed Cile and/or Mauifrog's Softmod Guides you should already have Priiloader installed. You can check by pressing and holding the power button when your Wii is booting.
You need to add hold reset!

why would you do that?
- 0.7 reloads ios and keeps ahbprot making it just as "safe" as using IOS36
- 0.7 was tested and marked fine by your staff (http://www.wiihacks.com/wiihacks-mem...-released.html)

and 0.4 -> 0.7 also fixes:
- title languages showing up fucked up(like german, chinese, or any language having its own symbols)
- fixed title launching on some wii's
- other trivial fixes that aren't really important

and a side note, I prefer links to my site since then i can keep more track of how many times/often priiloader gets downloaded but i dont mind mirrors

@bmarlo- Thanks for pointing that out.

@daco:

why would you do that?
- 0.7 was tested and marked fine by your staff
I know. I just think it wil be more safe until a new HBC that has more stability with AHBPROT is released. That's why I removed teh <no_ios_reload> line in the meta.xml

and 0.4 -> 0.7 also fixes:
- title languages showing up fucked up(like german, chinese, or any language having its own symbols)
- fixed title launching on some wii's
- other trivial fixes that aren't really important
I was just pointing "some" fixes. I and other people at the forum know of the good fixes you've done to priiloader in the last updates.

and a side note, I prefer links to my site since then i can keep more track of how many times/often priiloader gets downloaded but i dont mind mirrors
I had to upload it myself to edit the meta...

but the installer reloads ios AND keeps ahbprot; HBC is totally unrelated now (except for that 0.5s when the installer does its magic but that wont brick your wii if anything went wrong...) :-/

also, and i said 2 serious fixes that imo should be named if you are going to name a few :P

0.5 worked fine for me but not for others...
You cant say the same thing wont happen with 0.7 for sure...(You agree that you install this tool at your own risk, and that the author can not be held responsible)
Same as 0.6 giving random black screens

Don't see the big idea with ahbprot if it just doesnt work right...and many people that install can hardly figure out to hold B and press + to use ios36....

Anyway any guide on this forum has them install patched ios36....

need to fix priiloader..... - GBAtemp.net

because those(0.5 & 0.6) didn't reload ios and had all the (rubish) left behind of hbc to deal with
0.7 does not since it reloads ios

I get it but really same thing here...[if ahbprot fails it reloads ios36]
what i gather from everyone its not safe to use/utilize ahbprot....until they release(hopefully) the hbc 1.0.9 so nobody has to workaround the problem

10. #10
i understand what you think , and how concerned you are after the whole 0.5 fiasco (i was as well; and 0.7 was originally planned to use IOS 61 or 36) ; but thats only the case with 0.5 & 0.6
they got AHBPROT from HBC. because they got AHBPROT from HBC that means HBC did not reload ios (or else all rights are lost; including AHBPROT) meaning the loaded app has to deal with anything from HBC (including the callback that made 0.5 crash and the memory junk 0.6 had to deal with). this is why a new HBC release would fix those installations completely

however

because 0.7 reload ios (and regets ahbprot thx to the libdi mod) it has cut itself completely loose from anything HBC left behind ,either good things(HBC's ahbprot, identified as HBC,...)and bad things (memory issues,crashes,...)
however it uses AHBPROT from HBC to do the trick; and this is why i said there is like a 0.5s moment that it uses the ahbprot from HBC to reload ios and re-get ahbprot.

a new HBC release *could* make it as safe as the method 0.7 uses but i dont think it will. using AHBPROT from a different app will always result in having something not right from the previous app (something you can notice or something completely unnoticeable) untill you reload IOS
