Thread: I have started a Cool Petition.

  1. #1

I have started a Cool Petition.

I am trying to achieve 4 things with this petition.

    1. Bring VR back from a dark forgotten shadow, and back into the Public Consciousness.
    2. Get the gaming industry to finally take VR seriously after 25 years.
    3. Bring it to peoples attention, that while cool, motion controller games, are serving as a well orchestrated distraction for people, from true VR.
    4. Get people to realise that motion controller games, really aren't that much more immersive that just tapping buttons on a Joystick, the way I feel, we need either "All or Nothing"

^^Either I can strap on an OLED Head tracking Visor, phyisically turn around so I facing the other way, and my view changes in the Game. And then use my legs to Run/Sprint/Walk, and my Arms/fingers/thumbs to Aim, I will never feel like I am in the game.
I also want to phyisically tilt my head up and look at the games Ceiling/Sky.

Headtracking 360 degree OLED visors are already here, the Gaming Industry just need's to create a console to bundle them with, alongside Omni-Directional Cyber-shoes, Ones that look like Etnies Skate Shoes, that'll be REALLY COOL. Then Garrys Mod/Counterstrike Puzzle Maps would Euphoric. You would also need Independant joint and limb mapping, but the proccessor power is, also there.

So can you all kindly please sign it before the gaming industry releases YAMCC.

    Thankyou very much. :-)

God I hope VR games don't come back in vogue. I remember the old crappy VR arcade units of the 90s...They were bulky, cumbersome, the graphics sucked and were jerky, the games were simple, the controls sucked, you would feel nauseous/dizzy after or while playing followed by a headache, and it would cost you like $10 for five minutes of play. There weren't many in the arcades around here and they quickly disappeared because they were expensive, took up way too much floor space, and would make people ill after use. Needless to say I'm not going to sign the petition. VR seems like a neat idea but is horrible in actual use.

    God, you were so LUCKY!
I have never found an Arcade here in the UK, that had an VR Arcade unit.

We are, and were, always, so deprived over here in the UK, we never get half the cool things that you Americans get.

I'm sure things could be better with modern technology but I don't believe there is a way past the motion sickness nausea with headache thing. I wasn't too bad but I would prefer not to have to take Dramamine to game.

Wouldn't modern technology tackle that problem though anyway.

Motion sickness in VR is, after all, an occurrence when the latency between your head turning/tilting/moving, and the images refreshing themselves is too wide.

I thought the motion sickness caused by VR came from the the feeling of motion without actually moving. Kind of like sea sickness.

    Yes I know.
Hence, why something like this: YouTube - ‪Virtual Reality Roller Shoes‬‏

Coupled with what I above mentioned said, I think would get rid of Motion sickness.
The Earth right now is moving something like 650mph beneath your, and my feet, you dont feel it but it is. Motion is relative to a frame of reference.

If my Visual senses are showing movement, synced in time, and coupled with the motion of my feet/hands/limbs/head/neck (motion capture data) from my body, to accurately map out, and thus calculate my viewport with zero latency, then I am willing to bet you wouldnt get motion sickness.

Kinect can already collect motion capture data, and it gets that motion capture date from the Twin cameras, and then does most of the number crunching in the actuall sensor bar itself.
Thus Illiminating overheard for the main GPU and CPU.

Right guys I want you to do something for me.

Listen to this: YouTube - ‪College - I Think About It (Keenhouse Remix)‬‏
While watching this: YouTube - ‪Virtual Reality Roller Shoes‬‏

......Okay, now ask yourself whether you want to sign my pettition or not?
