Just installed Wiikey2 (and it works btw), but have some questions
So I recently had a softmod, but now have a hardmod (Wiikey2) due a friend not using his Wii anymore.
Anywho, the Wiikey2 allows for direct booting of Wii and Gamecube games. Now, when I go to the disc channel and load up either backup game, it will throw up WiiGator and give a "unable to read disc. error 263". Then a second after that, it will load the backup game.
Is there a way to fix that or get rid of that? It the modchip allows for directloading - then wiigator isn't necessary is it?
Also, I use wiiflow (latest version) and barely formatted it to NTFS. Now whenever I go to "install" the game it says that it can't due to the drive is only read-only. I've trided changing the permissions from Win7 and did, but Wiiflow still gives that. I know the Homebrew Channel doesn't load from NTFS, and that's fine. But I'm trying to install the games but I can't. The two options to bypass this is to go back into Fat32, or copy the games from Win7 onto my portable harddrive. And the Hottopic Guide for NTFS says that I can load or install games via Wiiflow. Is there something I'm missing?
I would be very thankful for any advice or help - as after googling does not procure the results I'm specifically looking for.
Try CFG Loader, see if it gives you the same error when installing a game.
Yup, thanks got it too work. I added the line ntfs_write = 1 in the config and now it can write to it.

So the question above in regards to the gamecube backups loading via my modchip (Wiikey2) - do I have to use Wiigator? Or do I have to suffer through the the "error 263 error" everytime I load a gamecube game? If I uninstall/remove the CIOS - would that solve the issue - or would that cause more problems...?
wiiflow 2.2(r304) can.....
try updating mios......if you install cmios it will interfere with the modchip...
or update the wiikey
Yes, you are a genius! Updated to v10 of MIOS and that solved the wiiGator error 263 issue.

So it's been awhile since I posted but I have learned a lot since then and fixed a few problems that have popped up.
So I have everything where I want it, except for one thing...
Whenever I play a gamecube game (or a backup gamecube game) and press the eject - it won't let me do it. The only way the motor will kick it out is if I shutdown the Wii completely and reboot it, and upon rebooting it will kick it out. Is this normal behavior for a modchip?
I do have to mention that when I got the modchip professionally installed - the installer said that the Wiikey2 that I bought from canadianmods was not authentic. However, the modchip does work correctly and plays everything directly (including backups) from the disc channel.
But this darn eject problem is the last issue I'm having. Ocassionaly, it happens with Wii games too. And I can't seem to isolate it on a particular game, as it's random.
If it helps, I am using Wiiflow 2.2 r304 (ios222).
Also, when you using Wiiflow to play for example Lego Star Wars, If I press the Home button during the game and exit back to wiiflow - it hangs. And it does that with most of the other games too, and it seemed to happen all of a sudden. No idea why.
EDIT: Solved: good thing I reread all of the thread topics in this forum. The eject issue was losted below and told me about the grounding. Sure enough it was. Now I have no problems with the eject anymore!

So, I have the 2DE drive, yellow sticker (6 wire) install, and no epoxy.
So when I changed the G connection point over from Wiikey2 install (below)
To the one in the stickied: Eject fix.
It did fix the eject issue - BUT the modchip doesn't work now. It doesn't read backups. It can read original discs just fine.
I did experiment, and when I play orginal gamecube discs - as soon as it starts to load up - it locks up the entire Wii. I can still eject discs in and out, when it's locked up, which is weird. A cold reboot will fix the lockup, obviously, but changing the one G, doesn't allow the modchip to work.
I have doubled checked with a magnify glass on G, and it's not touching anything else.
I will triple check it in the morning, but for right now, I'm stuck.
