Remove Softmod From ANY Wii

When I say you may brick throughout this guide, I’m not joking. Read the part that says "read me first", to follow this guide you have to have the basic knowledge to open/close a spoiler. My spoon broke before I could write how to open a spoiler, so I'm sorry. Also, if you cannot master the complexity of spoilers, you cannot master the complexity of this guide. If you know you want to make your wii a virgin, and there is no way around it, please follow this and DO NOT do it on your own(meaning without this guide). This guide was written for your safety incase you MUST remove your softmods. DO NOT skip steps unless I or another member tells you to. Judge that member by their post, if they have more they will know what they are talking about. If there avatar says staff, always listen to them and do not ignore them.

REMOVE ALL GC MEMORY CARDS AND GC CONTROLLERS! THEY MAY CAUSE ERRORS!!

DO NOT ASK ME QUESTIONS VIA PM!

THIS GUIDE IS FOR ALL WII'S UNLESS YOU HAVE CIOSCORP INSTALLED!

THIS GUIDE WAS WRITTEN WITH A DIFFERENT VERSION OF SYSCHECK, YOUR IOS 58 MAY HAVE SOMETHING ELSE DIFFERENT, IF IT SAYS USB 2.0 YOU ARE FINE!!!
-I do not recommend this guide, it is safer for your wii to be modded.
-If you are doing this to send it to Nintendo, I am sorry as they can tell if you have softmodded and they will refuse to work on it.
-If you want to remove your softmod’s and then start over, please go introduce yourself since you can safely follow a softmod guide and install over what you currently have.
-The only real reason I see to do this is if you are selling it to someone.
-Then again, they would probably appreciate a modded Wii more than a nonmodded one. However, I have heard that Ebay will not let you sell a modded console.
-If you are still persistent on wanting to remove your softmods, continue reading.
-This is not recommended and you may brick even if you read the entirety of the guide.
-You will most certainly brick if you do not read all of it.
-When I say you may brick throughout this guide, I’m not joking and the only way to solve a brick after step 2 is Bootmii as Boot 2.
I have tested this on my Wii, and I did not brick. I followed the guide word for word, but I only have a US console. I believe the other SM packs to be safe, but they have not yet been tested. Use at your own will, even if the other system menu's are fine you may brick somewhere else.
-READ THROUGH THIS GUIDE THOROUGHLY
-ACCEPT THE RISK OF DOING THIS
-ACCEPT THE BENEFITS OF DOING THIS (haha none)
-ACCEPT THAT ME NOR WIIHACKS WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK
-LEARN TO OPEN SPOILERS, INCASE YOU OPENED THIS ONE ON ACCIDENT
-DO NOT SKIP STEPS UNLESS THEY SAY "OPTIONAL"
-DO NOT ALLOW TURDS TO HIT THE FAN
-DO NOT FLAME THE FORUMS/ME IF YOU BRICK IF YOU FLAME THE JANITOR ON DUTY (JoostinOnline) WILL BE ANGRY AT THE MESS YOU MADE AND NIGHTSTAH WILL PROBABLY CHANGE YOUR THREAD TITLE TO SOME HILARIOUS VARIATION
-ONLY PM ME IF YOU ENCOUNTER A TYPo OR A MISTAKE ON MY PART. YOUR ERRORS GO IN THIS THREAD!
-YOU MAY NOT CHARGE US FOR YOUR BILL TO NINTENDO READ ABOVE!
-LAUGH WHEN I TRY TO MAKE A FUNNY

!!!!At this step, DO NOT Remove HBC or the turds will hit the fans!!!!
1. Hit the circle in the bottom corner and go into Data Management.
2.Then click on the channels bubble.
3.Find any unoffical channel.
4.Click on it.
5.Press on the "Erase" bubble to remove them.
-Rinse and repeat for every unofficial channel.

1.Format your SD card one last time and put this Hackmii.zip on it and extract it.
2.Go to HBC for the last time you will ever enter it
3.Run the only app that appears.
4.Click on the uninstall options for everything,
5.Click on Bootmii... and uninstall that also, and you will be finished.
-Congrats on not bricking.

-If you are selling your console, doing this will remove all of your saves, channels, and mii’s(I think).
-If your keeping it, then skip this unless you really want to but there is no reason to remove softmods and keep your wii.
1.Click on Wii settings and on page 3 of 3 there is a bubble that says "Format System Memory".
2.Click that and agree to anything it says.
-Doing so will not remove anymore traces of the softmod

-You may now click on that rusty update button, and it will update everything we didn’t doing this guide.
-You can skip this if you want, but if you buy a new game you will have to update sooner or later.
-This is due to the fact that you removed all of your homebrew, so you can't do it yourself and keep your SM the same.
Nice write up Buddy! You did a fantastic job. No wonder it took awhile. So the only thing I would ad or I think you missed ( or I missed it in here) is the eternal question that will be asked..

"Will Nintendo be able to tell it was softmodded?"

LoL! But all in all a GREAT first guide! Other then giving Joostin all that credit... his head is big enough..lol
Shift_Lock On Forum Issues - Vol. 1

Disclaimer:
First I would like to state that this is one persons point of view. It does not reflect this site (wiihacks.com) or any other staff/mod/or admin here. It is solely mine. Now even though a few may have similar points of view this should be taken as one person’s opinion. Also. This DOES NOT reflect all users and noobs here.. Just a select few personality types that pop in time to time. Let’s get started!
Now I realize many of you did not even read the rules and just agreed to them.. Kind of like signing a legal contract without reading the clause that states you just sold your life away… It happens... When it does, YOU are still responsible and held liable for your actions. No matter how much you think its BS... It’s still on you. I for one am among those who did just that when I signed up here... (Shame on me I know) I to did not read them immediately (however I did speed through it to get a general idea)... I was quickly referred to them a few times do to not being thorough enough with “speed reading”...
The rules here at wiihacks are here for a few key reasons. I’m only going to hit a few.

Conduct - We know it’s the net, and there are a lot of internet gangsters/bully’s/and plain jack ass’s... We don’t like that here. The ways users conduct themselves reflect the site... We want user to enjoy coming here but respect in general is needed. Flaming and such results in infractions/bans so don’t do it.

Piracy – This is a big one here, and no one seems to understand... First of all IT IS AGAINST THE RULES OF THE SITE! Which every last one of you members had to agree to follow prior to being a member here. Copyright laws vary from place to place so they are different for others. But we have to follow our copy rights here to protect our site. We DO NOT support piracy and will not assist in it. We don’t want to lose our wonderful site that you as a user come to, to find help. Big brother (the government) and big “N” (Nintendo) may be watching along with a vast amount of other private sectors looking to stop the pirating of copy righted material. Shutting down sites that support it are somewhere at the top of the list to reduce this.

Personally, I don’t care what you do... I don’t care what your online habits are or how much porn/software/media you download every day. It’s your computer and your life. YOU are responsible for anything that may occur from that. Users who lack a way with words to express themselves in what they are trying to do may get wrongly accused of being a pirate and these things occur: warnings/infractions/bans/threads closed/YouTube videos of dancing pirates/ and many many possible pictures pointing you out.

We as staff here are obligated to abide by and enforce forum rules. Whether we believe their valid or not. They are in place to protect the site and members of our community. I won’t allow a poor decision result in losing this site.

Cheating – Play Fair... I support it... Nothing I hate more than losing to a cheater... If I lose I want it to be because the other person was actually better. Cheating takes the fun out of the game... Why make it easier? Do you suck that bad at it? Don’t like the challenge? GET A DIFFERENT GAME! We don’t support cheats here. Users will not be given help on how to become invincible or walk through walls... you want god mode? Unlimited ammo? Go Google it somewhere else. Don’t ask about it here.
There are a lot of users/members that say “this is wiihacks wtf?” or "that’s the point in hacking a Wii”... No it is not….. We assist users in backing up their legally purchased games so they don’t get ruined in the future (we know how kids are)... Before backups I had bought 3 Mario karts! Ridiculous… Anyways, it also allows us to fully enjoy the console and the convenience that some mods add to the system. We make it custom and set it up the way we like it. Kind of like your pc. A lot of users buy the Wii just so they can do that! I will ban anyone who tries to argue that point... Dont be ignorant...

Warning: Spoiler below is a rant.
Really guy? We are “Modder’s” at best... most users aren’t even that. A hacker would shut down this site with a single code line… Not sit here claiming he’s one arguing about rules and why he needed help... I’m not saying we don’t have members that are real “hackers” but face it... You aren’t one of them... Coders and developers are fantastic people that make all this possible. And some of those guys truly are considered hackers at some level. Now, could they hack the pentagon? Probably not, but maybe. Who knows... lol

The point of this is for those of you that come on here thinkin you’re hot [nice word]... If you were a hacker you wouldn’t need our help and wouldn’t need to hide behind a proxy or redirect to post your nonsense… Get over yourself and just follow our guides. If you can’t “hack” a Wii, what can you do? Can you hit the logout button? Try It! How about facing your fail and going back to the guides to read some more… Leave the “hacking” to the REAL hackers out there. /end rant

That’s why you’re here right? To get help Modding your Wii. Some users can just navigate the site and never need to post a thing because they can search, read and are on some level tech savvy. Other users need assistance. That’s why we are here... To support and assist those who need the help to mod or to help find solutions to their problems. We like to help… but... We don’t always like to spoon feed arrogant people who demand help or can’t use the search function... If our search is too hard to use there is Google, and if you can’t use Google then you SHOULD NOT mod your Wii...

We see the same issues every day, same posts, same questions, same answers…. SEARCH FIRST!!! Read a little… Geez people! Too lazy to search for a solution, but can type a wall of text that takes 15 mins to read? C’mon man… step up your game... My spoon hand is getting tired, gonna have to just start [nice word] slapping people with it…

Don’t be lazy... Help us, help you... If you’re really stuck then we take no issue helping as long as it’s within the lines of the rules... The “grey” area is kind of tough... The staff is here on OUR own time and do not get ANYTHING for being here helping you... We are not paid and don’t see any part of the donations... The donations go strictly to site development. Can you fathom how much it costs to run a site of this level and host the files that we do? Everything costs money... Just not the staff here so remember that the next time you are impatient or lazy... We aren’t getting paid... We are helping because we want to... So keep your cool and dont lose your head... Don’t give us reasons to NOT help you. If you do, well... Then we won’t...

Ok.. So It might not bother you but it bugs the crap outta me! It clutters the forum and makes you come off as impatient and ungrateful.

Mutli threads - Do you really need more then one?? Mods and staff see EVERY POST MADE! You only need one thread for your issue.. Dont create more then that..

Double posts - You have an "EDIT" button... it will be right under your post to the right.. it will say "EDIT".. say it with me now.. "Eh-d-it" ...... Use IT!!!

Bumping - If no one has got to you yet there IS a slim chance it was missed.. probably not.. As we answer what we know. so if we dont know, We will leave it for someone else or atleast contact another Staff member for assistance. So WAIT and be PATIENT!You can bumpAFTER 24hrs! and that it!!! I will infract/ban/scold/kick your dog/delete any users who abuse this after warnings....
More to come (without a doubt) so stay tuned for the next edition! Peace I’m out!
I rewrote everything, it should be easier to follow/less problems for people. Thanks to Krank and Cile, I did what they had suggested.

@anno you have cioscorp installed, redo it from start to finish that and you probably did not patch ios 36, an error i made while writing. That part is now fixed, it is now mandatory that you do it. Sorry for slow response, i just noticed this was approved.

@shift lock it has always been there but with it being redone i modified that wall of text up top and put in the a spoiler now.

Can't clean up ios58.

Hi,

I used your excellent tutorial to virginize my wii and everything worked flawlessly until step (3b).
When i compare my SysCheck with yours it doesn't say "IOS58 (rev 6176): No Patches" for me. Instead it says "IOS58 (rev 6176): USB 2.0". I have tried using the IOS manager provided with the MMM to remove it but that didn't work, it didn't grey out. I also tried to overwrite again with the "IOS58-64-v6176.wad" file that came with the "Virginizing IOS.zip", and that didn't work either. How can i fix that?

I am sorry if the solution to my problem is very obvious as i am not really experienced with softmodding, been only using tutorials so far. Also please excuse my english because i am not a native english speaker.

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

That is fine, you are using a different version of syscheck than i was using when i wrote the guide. That is a clean IOS 58.

I'm receiving an error when I attempt to patch IOS 36. The exact message (I believe that it appears twice with a slight difference) goes like this.

Getting IOS36 v3608 to install as IOS236 v65535...
Loading IOS36-64-v3608.wad from SD Card
Checking Title...
Getting Content 15/15
Checking Hashes...
Applying patches to ES module #14:
00005A6A - new hash check
0000ECF8 - nand check
000138F2 - identify check
000152FC - version check
Resigning Title...
Resigning Ticket...
Installing IOS...
ERROR: ES_AddTicket (-2011)

Please reload to a IOS capable of homebrew or try the
Install & Patch IOS36 option from the main menu.

The only difference I can find between the first and second incarnation of the message is that the first doesn't have the "Resigning Ticket..." line.

Any ideas?

I apologize for the double post, but the original has yet to be approved by a mod. I, somehow, managed to fix the problem I was having.

Ok, I'm not exactly sure HOW I did it, but I appear to have successfully virginized my wii.

In order to avoid the error that I was getting, I decided to try changing the option at the very bottom of MMM. I forget exactly what it says, but at the side, it displays what IOS file is being loaded. I switched it from IOS36 to IOS236 and tried patching IOS36 again. It worked perfectly.

Now I have a completely unhacked Wii. Thanks for teh guide ^^

Thank you for the reply, I'm glad that it doesn't need any further cleaning because I switched to a hardmod and removed my homebrew channel already.
