    New to modding...wiikey 2 questions

    FIRST POST

I just did a search and cannot find anything satisfying what I am looking for. Me and my brother recently got our wiikey 2 chip in the mail and we are trying to install it this weekend. I have a few questions about the procedure.

The wiikey 2 website does not tell me anything other than soldering information. I basically would like a general step-by-step guide to what happens after soldering.

Step 1: install wiikey 2 chip
    Step 2: ....???
    Step 3: .........???

I am under the impression that all I have to do is install the chip, insert the update disc and im good to go. Can you guys help me out? Anything to look for before we put the cover back on the console?

you install it, and its done, simple as that =\

you can play games, and out of region its really just done

    what i would do is

    install it
    update the chip
turn off updates, unless youre under 3.2 then i would get 3.2
burn a ISO with homebrew channel
get or use a SD card
    and enjoy

    if u have 3.3+
    get twilight princess
    install homebrew channel
    use canada's guide to downgrade
    get 3.2

ok i will take a look at that stuff.

One more question i guess...do I actually need the homebrew channel? I am basically doing this to be able to play imported games (one game actually...). I thought the wiikey 2 had the "direct boot of import games". Doesnt this mean I shouldnt need anything else?

BTW my wii has the 3.4 update, if that matters.

no, and imported games work at a 90% japan, 50% pal or US or what have u

it makes 100% imported games work
it lets u install all nintendo shop items for free
lets u not install updates, so u dont get screwed later
    and much more

and 3.4 is bad downgrade reading canada's thread

it means it skips updates, 1 update out of region = brick

Thanks for the quick replies, I appreciate it.

    Ok so I need to:

    1. install chip
    2. update chip and turn off system updates
    3. install homebrew channel
    4. downgrade to 3.2

Is this correct? Sorry for all my questions I just want to get this done the right way.

You cannot install The Homebrew Channel before you put in the chip, unless youn run the twilighthack, but why would you do that, if you're going to install a modchip? Just wait until the modchip is installed, and then pop in The Homebrew Channel iso and install it.
