Thread: System files corrupted

    System files corrupted

OK I skimmed through posts and found several solutions. I just figured I would post my own thread and see if I can find the best one for me.

Last night I got the message "system files are corrupted" with a black screen for the first time. This only happens when I hit the home button and exit to the system menu. After I power down and back up it's fine. Everything works!? It's only when I try to return to the system menu I get this message. Then all I need to do is power cycle. It's just annoying and I'm worried that it could be the start of a bigger issue.

I'm running 4.2U with priiloader. BootMii is an IOS. I use wiiflow and I haven't installed anything recently. I have used the wii back up disc and assigned a new wii ID but that was weeks ago.

Any advice that I could get would be helpful. Preferably advice from someone who has conquered this problem.

    Thanks in advance.

It would help if you could post a syscheck. Here's how to do it

also, have you ever messed with themes?

Try reinstalling your System Menu by doing the following...

    4.2U cBoot2 fix
    1. Download this and unpack it to your SD card.
    2. Place SD card in your Wii and boot. (Skip to step 5 if you have Bootmii as boot2)
    3. Start Homebrew
    4. Press the home button and select Bootmii
    5. MMM will start
    6. Scroll down to "Load another IOS" and press A.
    7. Choose IOS249 and press A.
    8. Scroll up to "Wad Manager" and press A.
    9. Press 1 to install all wads and then press A.
    10. Let it finish and reboot when done

OK. Here's a syscheck. No I haven't messed with themes. I've thought about it and I have thememii in my apps folder but decided it wasn't worth the risk with all the warnings that are posted about it. I've used themes for homebrew and usbloaders but I'm sure that's not the problem. I just find it weird because I haven't installed anything or done anything out of the ordinary for quite some time.

Thanks for the input. I'll decide what course of action I will take soon. I've started to download the package you posted you posted krafter.

It is very strange that the you are on 4.2 but IOS70 shows as a stub..... I don't get it. I have seen this before.

The pack I gave you includes IOSs for most System Menus and System Menu 4.2 so reloading might just take care of your problem.

Before doing that, would you mind doing a sysCheck with Bannerbomb so we can see what IOS your SM is using?

Yea sure. It'll be about 20 minutes or so. My SD and HDD are copying files. Post back soon

and yes I used pimp my wii. Is that a bad thing? I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I'm not a noob more of an amateur and the ios's can sometimes be confusing. Except black ops had to have 250 rev 19 instead of 20

Thanks. I've never seen this before, and we can't depend on Krafter since his mind is starting to slip in his old age (j/k, please don't hurt me). This might be helpful for future diagnostics.
