    Newbie question to do with Wii Fit :s sorry..!

    I was wondering if anyone can help me with a few questions..

    I bought a premodded Wii off my friend, for my parents in fact lol, it is coming soon but:

    1. we don't know what chip is inside it

    2. don't know if it is Pal or ntsc..

    3. my friend hasn't played it for 6 months but i know it can play relatively new games like..manhunt 2, tiger woods 08, super paper mario....ok ok i don't know if these are new but i was wondering if you think it needs an update?

    also, should i do this via Wifi right? and do i have to update the chip and the wii in order to get newer games to work?

    4. I plan on getting a Wii fit but not sure if there are any complications with using modded wii?

    5. Can Wii's be bricked, i've read they can, and i've read they can't!

    6. lastly, where do you guys get games from..only bittorrent..or somewhere faster!?

    Sorry for all the trouble, thanks for your help!

    1. If this is your friend's machine ... How? If you have a triwing screwdriver, disasseble it and take pictures of the mod.

    2. If this is your friend's machine ... How? When you get the machine, head to the "Wii" button on the dashboard's menu. Look up the firmware number.

    3.XU = North America
    3.XP = Europe
    3.XJ = Japan

    3. I'd disable the internet and play WiiFit normally. I believe it requires the 3.2 firmware. If your buddy can play Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, or Mario Galaxy, WiiFit should be fine.

    4. None, if you know the specs of your machine ... which it really sounds like you don't.

    5. You can brick your Wii in several ways ... one is by updating the firmware with a disc outside of the machine's region code.

    ahh we don't know the specs because he bought the machine like a year ago premodded and then hasn't played it for 6 months (hence why he's selling it)

    is 3.2 firmware for the wii or for the chip?

    not sure if he can play mario kart/super smash bros etc because he hasn't tried and those games came out more recently i think..

    Thanks for the help though!

    p.s. ca you brick it by updating the firmware without updating the chip first?

    3.2 firmware is on the console.

    Notes ...
    The Wii's firmware and Chip's firmware cannot brick each other.

    Depending on the chip, there may be an option to stop out-of-region Wii firmware updates, but since this console is dated, I doubt that feature is there. This is a method to prevent bricking.

    No chip can make your console 100% brick-proof. The responsibility is all on the console's owner.
