I recently purchased a pre-owned Wii as every other member of my family (spread across four households including my own) has one and they insisted I join in.
I have never owned a console before as I have always been a PC guy. I prefer to purchase my games from Steam as I am not very good with physical media - pretty much every CD/DVD I have owned during my life has been lost or damaged beyond repair!
I have joined this community as I am planning on modding my Wii in the very near future, partly because making backups is essential for me as I'll only end up losing my original copies and partly because I have always felt that I am entitled to have full control over any piece of hardware I own.
Will that do for an introduction?
PS: I'd also like to make a quick plug for Game, who are currently doing bundle deals of pre-owned Wiis with new games for £99. I got mine with The Sims 3 which by itself would cost £30. I'm not affiliated with Game in any way, I was just quite pleased with the value.

2009 Wii Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX and LEH2676XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use original discs and USB loaders.
