    Us Greetings from NJ!

    Hey all,

Got a new Wii for XMAS and been looking around the site for some possibilities. Really nice stuff here, btw. I was looking for a soft or hard solution to install the HBC and get backup games working from an external HDD. I was considering the softmod approach but I'm just concerned about having to maintain those mods to play anything new. So I looked at the hardmods and those look pretty cool but then I don't get the HBC!

I've recently ordered a mini-pc to sit with Home Theater so I really don't think I care about playing any other media than the Wii games themselves. I'm really green also so I have some reservations about bricking my Wii though it seems like the guides are well done and if I stick to them I should be OK (priiloader, NAND backup, etc..) My wife would be pissed if I broke it! lol.

I'm going to make a decision soon. Wanted to say hello and thank you for the help so far. Bought myself some sandisk 2gb SD cards and going to order one of the games listed (4.3u is shown) so I think I've subconsciously committed to tinkering with it

Hi and welcome to WiiHacks Nigel

If you need advice or help for anything Wii related you have joined the right site, whether it’s hard or soft modded.

Don’t be shy, ask if you are stuck, just don’t expect other people to do all the work for you.

Before you start anything, make sure you read the rules go over the tutorials, and most importantly, search before asking questions.

Make sure you post in the correct areas of the forums.

2009 Wii Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX and LEH2676XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use original discs and USB loaders.
Check yours at Wii Drive Chip Database

And please do donate to the forum if you are able so we can go on helping the Wii community.

I hope you have a great time here at WiiHacks, and increase your knowledge of all things Wii.
