No picture only sound - is it fixable?

    Hi everyone!

Like a year or two i installed homebrew channel using the twilight hack to play some old snes games. Yesterdag i bought guitarhero 5 and when i started my wii i din't get any video signal, just sound. The controller connected and i got sound and vibration feedback and i did also mannage to start homebrew channel (have no idea about what version). SInce it's the same on different TV's and it worked fine the day before i got guitarhero 5 I'm suspecting some sort of brick. Is there anything i can do?

Happy for answers, good or bad

    P.S Forgot:

Doesnt sound like a brick sounds more like a hardware problem. I would try using different leads.

But it's so weird when it happend just after I bought guitar hero 5, it worked the other day... The warranty is out and i can't do any leading. Is there any other options? Send it to nintendo?

U cannot send it to nintendo as u have HBC but to be honest i've never heard of a brick where u still get the music! it has got to be a problem with your wires or a hardware problem

Are you using the standard RCA video cable or a component video cable? Sometimes, the video encoder partially burns out for some unknown reason and the standard video cable will stop working. In most of these cases, a component cable will still work. The component cable connects the same as the standard video cable however uses different contacts inside the connector.

    Good to hear!

I figured that would get it working again as I've had many consoles come in with the same exact issue.

Bad_Ad84 has observed as much before; wonder if some kind of design flaw that this is somewhat common?

I have three of them that were all marked as "Black Screen". I have a component cable hooked up to my TV so when I tested them they all seemed to work perfectly. I thought the liquidators just had a few idiots testing them and I scored three perfectly good Wiis @ $24/ea. It was after selling one of them to a friend that I found out a standard video cable didn't work. I wouldn't say it's a very common issue however I do test all black screens with both cables now
