Sandisk 2g SD locking up my Wii - attempting to load hackmii installer
I tried formatting my Sandisk SD card using SDFormatter V184.108.40.206 using the quick format option and whenever I pop it into my 4.2U Wii, it just freezes\locks everything up... Is quick formatting not the way? Should I use one of the FULLFORMAT options in the program?
Doubt that it matters but I did attempt to use the SD card in typical noobish fashion on the Wii, without formatting first... that also resulted in frozen Wii.
Don't use quick format. Also, the Windows format option works just fine.
Dag - well I did the FULLFORMAT and still nothing works... Tried Windows method - FAT32 ---I can click on the SD card within the Wii and it doesnt immediately freeze, but also nothing pops up. After about.......5-10ish seconds of waving the cursor it freezes
Is it possible I have permanently damaged the SD Card into a state of Wii uselessness? A little unclear on formatting still

Use this SMDK_FAT32.zip to format your SD card to FAT32. Make sure before you format you have selected your SD card & not something else. After formatting, If you still get problems, Your either doing something wrong or your SD card is broke/damaged.

I might take a stab at this had similair brop but was after modd make sure the lock on side of sd card is not in locked position. for some reason wii will not read it if locked.
Thanks for the replies;
1 - The lifespan of this SD card has been.... less than 12 hours. Bought it last evening, opened, formatted using the quick format, etc... etc... then re-attempted formats with FULLFORMAT option then Windows formatting. ---- really its busted you think? (not sure on how often they come defective out of package)
2 - Tried it in the Wii with Lock and Unlock... no go.
3 - Current situation, I click on SD Card in the Wii Channels area, and the page is blank, and I can't hit the Back button even, but the cursor floats for a bit with the default Wii music playing ---> then flatline freeze up
*EDIT* - I tried using SmartDisk FAT32 and after a successful formatting, when trying to access the card on my PC - it says the card needs formatting... so I format with Windows, again... le'sigh
