Will this run backups on my wii?

Amazon.com: Hitachi X250 Mobile 250GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive 0S02528 (Black): Electronics

Wondering if this would run backup games on my wii before i order it

i dont see why not, just make sure that you format the drive into WBFS and use WBFS manager, and if you want you can use the drive as well as put games on it, i mean, i have a 320 and i have only used about 45gb for wii games out of my partitioned 100gb for my WBFS drive, and the other 200gb are for movies for wiimc =)

*btw i have about 25 games also, but it depends on the size of games you get XD*

    Hi wii4life,

There is a drive list here: USB Devices Compatibility List - WikiTemp

There is a 2.5" Hitachi on the list, which has detail as 'doesn't work', although there is a guide here somewhere that says that WBFS is not needed anymore and that you can use FAT32. I don't know exactly where I found it, but let me know if you're still stuck as I'm sure that I could find it again

formatting in WBFS format is no longer required or recommended.

There is a guide to using FAT32 for the drive, which is much more convenient.

Also, there is a list of compatible drives, not all USB HDD's are compatible with the Wii, you should find and check this list before you make a purchase.
