    Hello from Singapore

I've got an ancient wii that has wiikey installed... i've had a few problems occasionally with discs not being read and the newer games requiring update...

so, i followed the 3.1-4.1 softmod for any wii and got everything working... now, i'm on 4.1 with HBC and bootmii and priiloader... but suddenly all my backup discs won't read... however, my original discs still work fine... i wonder if there's any setting that i need to change to get the backup discs to work again...

even the wiikey 1.9s config disc won't read...

    Hello RonnieCorny and welcome to

I have a wiikey myself installed but never used it again. Drive was worn out as well so i switched to usb harddrive loading, so much more fun. Backups should work through a disc loader like neogamma or uloader. I know you are asking why they stopped working via the chip/discchannel, i don't know right now. Get a syscheck (How to post a syscheck: Instructions here) and post it in the newbie area/hardmod section, maybe some of the patched IOSs are interferring/i don't know which or if a chip is using any though. Good luck

thanks for the welcome... i've actually done a syscheck and will post that in the newbie section in a while... i'm just glad that the system still works and was not bricked... and i can confirm that wiikey still works somewhat... just doesn't like backup discs (DVD-R).. it still loads my non-us region discs...

i'll be trying out usb-hdd soon to see if this will solve all issues... probably my drive is also run-down...
