Thread: Downgrade 4.3 to softmod

Question [Solved] Downgrade 4.3 to softmod

    Greetings,

My apologies for having to rely again on your knowledge, but I am a bit confused. The past few years I have softmodded multiple Wii's, all following the same guide from here. All went well. But now I got the request to softmod a Wii which is on 4.3e. I thought to myself: "This won't be any different.". But so it seems things have changed and we need to rent/buy a game (one of three) to be able to softmod the Wii. That correct?

Since I think that is quite a drag, I wanted to ask whether or not it is possible to downgrade the Wii back to 4.2, then softmod, en then update. If any of you fine gents could turn me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance, and my apologies for any inconvenience.

    Yours sincerely,

    OMH

No. You need to be softmodded first in order to downgrade your system menu.

Thanks all for the quick responses. So literally I'll have to get one of those games. Seems so strange to me having to rent a game to be able to softmod a Wii. If there are any other ideas, please shoot. Otherwise, thanks for the information!

Just accept it and do it; it's really not a big deal. May as well buy it instead of renting in case you want to softmod another Wii at some point.

I don't see how that would be interesting. Won't it be the case that when there's a new version, there'll be a new way to softmod the Wii, making the bought game a waste of money?

Can you predict the future? I know I can't...the more likely scenario is that the next version/update has even less options to softmod it. So do it while you can and consider yourself lucky that an exploit exists in the first place.
    Damn I suck!!!!
